There's a motif I believe has been discussed about, but I just want to make sure. For example, it can be heard on the "Finale" cue. It reminds me of the Carnivore Motif from TLW. It's that the Unicorn Theme perhaps?

That's just Snowy's Theme again - I'm telling you - its all over the score, but sounds different every time!

The theme I am referring to that I think might be for The Unicorn is heard in the "Secret of the Scrolls" sample, from 0:02-0:10

Whoa, that's very impressive! But right, I forgot... This is John Freakin' Williams we're talking about. If there's one guy who knows how to play around with a theme it's him.

Does Sakharine have a theme? I think it's the only important character we don't know much about yet.

Posted

I think he might - more on that in a bit

Posted

SPOILER WARNING!!

Since Sakharine is a descendant of Red Rackham (they are even being played by the same actor), chances are their themes, even they do exist, might be connected somehow

Posted

Merkel, I put a spoiler warning on your post. That is a plot detail that viewers - even those who have read the comics - might not want to know until they discover so while watching the film

Posted

So very sorry, I forget at times many posters are not familiar with the albums. Won't happen again. Again, I'm not sure what I wrote happens in the movie, but seems a very safe assumption

Posted

But in the comics, Sakharine is NOT a descendant of Red Rackham! That was invented for the movie.

The Bird Brothers are behind everything in the comics.

Posted

You mean you don't have the OST already? Man, we've all been enjoying it for days. Where have you been?

Indeed. Too late for me unfortunately.

Shut up! I won't give in! I said I'll wait for the OST, and I'm sticking to the plan!

Well now you've gone and done it - now we're on page 10!

Really? Wow, sorry about that. I edited his post the second I saw it!

They have to be related. They look exactly the same, just like Haddock looks just like Hadoque. I don't remember if this was adressed in the comics or not, but it was always my clear impression

Posted

Who is Hadoque?

And no, the comics never say that Sakharine is a descendant of Red Rackham, unless I am simply not remembering that. He's just a collector that likes the Unicorn model from what I remember reading.

Maybe BloodBoal can set us straight?

Hadoque is the Captain of the Unicorn, the ancestor of Captain Haddock. He has a portrait of him in his house, and even Tintin remarks on their likeness. Likewise, Sakharine looks exactly like Red Rackham

And Fommes, I am trully sorry for the spoiler, really

Posted

Oh I getcha - Hadoque = Sir Francis

Posted

Hadoque is Sir Francis the Knight of Hadoque.

In the comics, Sackarine and Rckham's designs are actually different but a bit similar. But I think they'll be made to look the same in the film just like Sir Francis/Haddock!

No worries! I'll try to forget it again :)

I have to say, I'm REALLY enjoying the sample of The Milanese Nightingale, perhaps the most out of all the samples. It's just so.... I dunno how to describe it - refreshingly fun?

I like Williams classic adventure themes more than anyone, but that little bit is just gorgeous.

Yeah the violin solo is so wonderfully glamorous and romatic Golden Age in style and then switches gears with French sounding accordion.

Yes! It reminds me of Ratatouille

French (original) version= Chevallier François de Hadoque

English Version=Sir Knight Francis Haddock

I think.

So here is my updated list of themes. All times come from the mp3s you can download directly from the german website (see this post)

Unknown Theme 1 (Unicorn theme? Mystery theme?)

03 The Secret Of The Scrolls 0:02-0:10

Main Theme (possibly also referred to as Snowy's theme - unverified)

07 Sir Francis and the Unicorn 0:02-0:08

08 Captain Haddock Takes the Oars 0:00-0:13 [not sure about this one]

11 The Flight to Bagghar 0:05-0:14

15 The Captain’s Counsel 0:08-0:19

17 The Return to Marlinspike Hall and Finale 0:03-0:10 and 0:18-end

Unknown Theme 2 (Sir Francis' Theme? Red Rackham's Theme?)

07 Sir Francis and the Unicorn 0:14-end

Piratey adventure melody appearing only in 1 cue, but reprised in the end credits:

09 Red Rackham’s Curse and the Treasure 0:26-end

18 The Adventure Continues 0:06-end

Haddock's Theme

10 Capturing Mr. Silk 0:19-end

Thomson and Thompson's Theme

(does not appear in any samples)

Unknown Theme 3 (Omar's theme? Sakharine's Theme?)

(does not appear in any samples)

Does anybody else notice any melodies that sound like they could be a character theme?

Does anybody else notice any melodies that appear in more than one sample?

So, am I the only one who haven't (and won't) listened to the samples? What about all those people who pretended they'll wait till the soundtrack is released to listen to it in its entirety? You guys are weak!

I'm still hanging in there.

Semper fi, BloodBoal! Semper fi!

Listening to the samples now does not have a negative impact on me enjoying the OST later

they just translated the name, like the thompsons, and marlinspike hall.

But

I'm correct that in the comics, Sakharine is NOT related to Red Rackham, right?

Phew! I'm glad I'm not crazy :)

Posted

I think "Introducing the Thompsons" and "Snowy's Chase" are joined at 4,60 of track 4.

Oh sorry, i meant 4 seconds and 60 hundredths.

What in the world are you talking about?

Posted

Just open the sample of track 4 in Audacity and go to "4,60".

4 seconds, and 60 hundredths.

Posted

Oh, I getcha. Yes, you can definitely hear where "introducing the thompsons" ends and "snowy's chase" begins in the sample from the german website

In fact, I think you can hear the segue begin two cues in the German website samples of:

04 Introducing The Thompsons and Snowy's Chase

07 Sir Francis and the Unicorn

09 Red Rackham's Curse and The Treasure

Posted

Where is the cue that plays before "Old Enemies Meet" in the sample of 07 Sir Francis and the Unicorn supposed to play?

Posted

I have no idea

Go open a "Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn Unreleased Music Resource" thread.

Any themeless Williams underscore would already be fine for me!

What?

After many years absent from this board, here i am again. What made me come back? No other reason then the excitment for what i have been listening from the samples of Tintin. It sounds fresh, in a way i think KOTCS failed to be.

I apologise for any mistake since english isn't my first language.

Nice to be here again!
