I was a pretty scared child (who turned up to be a very anxiety-ridden adult) so I didn't see many horror movies especially in early childhood.

I remember when I was 6 and my dad rented The Matrix on VHS. I was absolutely HORRIFIED during the interrogation scene, where Neo loses his mouth and some creepy insect is inserted on him via his belly button. Then, during the scene where he awakens in the real world totally nude and bald in that horrifying landscape I was so scared that I ended up vomiting.

Funny thing is, not many years later I started to really like the martial arts and action scenes. My dad was obssessed with that movie and so he bought the DVD and kept replaying the gun fights and martial arts, so eventually I thought those were awesome.

Now, The Matrix is one of my favorite movies ever, and I love the whole trilogy. But it remains a very scary movie franchise given current technological inovations.

Another embarrassing childhood memory: 6-year-old me was afraid of the fucking poster for The Mummy... lol. I thought that huge scary face made of sand above a pyramid was really creepy.

Although I've already seen Goldenthal in Ghent years ago, it's a nice addition to the event. Surely another good reason to go, for those (unlike me) who can afford it.

Generations change, I suppose, but ALIEN is the most scary film I've ever seen (a bit too early, at 10 or so). Xenomorphs haunt me in my actual nightmares to this day. Even if I've seen the film close to 100 times.

As long as we're sharing Indy collections, here's mine.

    I have these physically:

Additionally, I have these in digital file format:

Now if I could only get my old friend Jim Titus to design a slipcover, print it out somehow and BANG!, I have an Indiana Jones box that outshines this new set from Disney in every way.

I have a friend and colleague who has seen PSB double-digit amount of times over the years. Personally, I've never seen them even once. Would definitely like to, but right now, it's complete stop in regards to concerts (unless they're free, or I get accreditation or something, in which case it needs to be film music-related only).

    Julius Caesar - Miklós Rózsa

In the meantime one of my absolute favourites. Lyrical, epic, dramatic and one of Rózsa's most memorable themes with great variations. Love it.

Whoa, that slipped past me. And here I was talking earlier about the lack of any new Gilmour in recent years. Thanks for the heads-up!

    In other news...
David Gilmour has a new album, on the way. Released in September, it will be called LUCK AND STRANGE.

Is now the time I admit that I'm not THAT big a fan of those scores? I mean, they're fine, but I'm content with my 38-minute playlist of HTTYD 2, the superior of the scores. There, I've said it. Shoot me! Throw tomatos! Do what you wish!

He, he. I dared to bring it up in my interview with him in 2013. From 30:20 here:

I remember being incredibly disappointed by this album when it came out in 1996. Power ballads and pop, far removed from the proggy stuff I had come to know and love from MMEB. But over time, I've come to appreciate it for what it is. Chris Thompson's soaring vocals, Mann's little interludes, big melodies, guitars aplenty. It would be the last "official" MMEB album.

Yeah, I also managed to acquire all four volumes on CD in the 90s and early 2000s. They're a treasure in my collection, and not for sale. IMO, this set is a must-have for any Waxman or Golden Age fan. Shame they never managed to continue the LEGENDS OF HOLLYWOOD series further.

Thor got a reaction from artguy360 in Do you think Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece?
I've always found tracks 1-3 to be movement 1, 4-6 movement 2, 7-9 movement 3 and then the repeat of the theme is a fine coda. Beautiful presentation.

No, I think we interpret the word 'curate' differently. I've always taken it to mean both a selection of material, as well as manners in which said material is presented. Like curators at an art exhibition. So sequencing plays a role too.

Another interesting one comes to mind. THE TOWERING INFERNO was called INFERNO IN FLAMES over here. As in, are there any non-flame infernos out there?

Some of the main criticisms at the time related to the film's darker tone, its violence and its happy-go-lucky comic book pace and structure (Looney Tunes maestro Chuck Jones had been involved on storyboard level). However, over time these aspects have turned into strenghts. It's a great film; I still remember seeing it for the first time, on VHS, in the late 80s while visiting some friends of my parents in Denmark. Good times.
