  1. I've tried looking for a 5.1 rip of the show, without any luck. All I have is a YouTube rip.
  2. From Intrada: Hmm.. that's 1.15am here. Wonder if I can stay up just to find this out.
  3. mp3s don't have DRM. Only the crap that apple gives you does.
  4. God damn it - why can't they just friggin' tell us... If it turns out to be some lame sequel that never saw the light of day for a reason.. grrr
  5. Just 'soon'? For once, the usual 'our engineers are currently working 24/7 and taking no bathroom breaks until this is fixed' would be appropriate here
  6. I have a regular backup routine for the entire contents of my computer, including music. I don't think I'm being lazy. I believe the Internet is a very valuable, fast and efficient way of distributing music, but the music industry has been far too slow to embrace it. And I've said it before, but my lack of need for a CD is simply because once I've ripped them to my computer they never get used again, ever. Also, I can see a climate emerging where releasing complete scores is a viable option when done digitally. So many scores are currently not available because labels do not consider them worth putting on a CD - well online distribution costs a fraction. I guess I'm thinking of practicality over anything else here, but especially given that comment made on the recent podcast, that much of the time in making a CD is designing artwork etc, why not try and embrace the Internet to reach as many people as possible?
  7. *Spidey 3 Spider 3 Spidey 3* *returns to the real world*
  8. A very fun score with some intensely hummable passages. A solid 4 stars. I've never been a fan of Arnold's sometimes overbearing use of brass though.
  9. I think I remember hearing on one of the FSM podcasts that Doug and the rest of the gang said they weren't big fans of Spidey 3 compared to the other two. I'm inclined to suspect we're all going down the wrong path here.
  10. Ah yes, I missed the second appearance of her - I paused and rewound just to make sure I'd seen that right.
  11. It wouldn't have been the same with Williams' wriggling string and woodwinds if that's what you're referring to. How long did JNH have for Waterworld? 6 weeks or something like that? And I agree, it's a stunning score, especially considering the utter tat the film was
  12. This week's episode... wow Some really nice character moments and I thought the story was excellent. The doctor's little lines and quips are just getting better. The preview for next week though - even more shocking than a certain surprise appearance in the first episode, and . Can't wait.
  13. I agree completely that those burning these things to CD and putting them on ebay is completely wrong. However, there's a difference between privately profiting from someone else's hard work, and privately enjoying that work. If the studios refuse to provide us with any way of remunerating them for leaked music, why should it stop us enjoying it? They're not being deprived of revenue because they decided themselves that it wasn't a revenue stream they were going to open.
  14. I was only aware of 2 promos, one containing what Lurie did, and the other containing some of Young's music. Is there another promo or is Debney's music on one of the others? Edit - I just found 6 tracks apparently by Debney on soulseek.
  15. When the announcement came from MTFM, the article speculated it might be due to 'legal and financial issues', so I'm guessing the repeated situation of multiple composers probably did have something to do with it. A wild guess is that Sony made the effort with Elfman since he did the first movie and is well known - Young's not such a big seller so maybe they didn't see it worth sorting everything out. Who knows. But yes, if it is SM:3, I hope they do it properly (everything he wrote + alternates). Do that and I'm buying the CD.
  16. My most hoped for is Spidey 3. I'm not getting my hopes up much though. Just doesn't seem likely.
  17. So apart from LotR, you haven't paid for a piece of music in 3 years? Honestly, I can't blame you. The music industry doesn't provide a lot of incentive.
  18. Spidey 3 would be awesome - I absolutely adore that score. However, if it didn't receive an initial release for whatever reasons, I doubt those issues have magically cleared up. BTTF would also be good, although I personally feel it's a bit overrated just because it's unreleased. Why Apollo 13? There's already a CD out there, albeit interspersed with dialogue, and I believe the promo only has a few extra cues.
  19. I only buy the CD for really, really important stuff (LotR, KotCS). Simple reason is, the price of CDs is still artificially high, I don't physically use them after I rip them - I just bypass all that. I've legally purchased 8 albums digitally, I own about 67-70 CDs, and the rest is obtained from newsgroups or soulseek (and obviously there isn't much of an option with boots). I mean I was in HMV today, and saw many soundtrack CDs going for £15-16, that's around the $25-30 region. That's too much, especially considering the DVD usually costs less.
  20. I'll go with my brother probably just once. We both have unlimited cards so cost isn't an issue, but I've never seen a film twice since The Two Towers (once with family, once with a friend). Unless it's so good that it totally knocks us out of our seats...
  21. I'll get KotCS the day before people in the US I'm getting it delivered to work actually, so I won't have to wait until the end of the day to listen. Oh the joys of traditional CD release dates...
  22. Yeap, I think he did a stunning job given the time.
