  1. What is this awesome "theme" I'm hearing 17 seconds into "Grievous And The Droids"? I don't think this was even used in the film, but it's great. Does Williams just pull this out of nowhere to never be heard again, or was this intended for Grievous?
  2. Yeah, beautiful shot. But WHY does it happen? Why does Mac and everything get sucked up/destroyed in a vortex? They collected all this stuff to destroy it? I don't get any of this. It just seems to have all been written with the intention of leaving it ambiguous and showing an alien/spaceship. Why did the Russians need the alien corpse? It was just a plot device. It's like if in ROTLA (ignoring the exposition in the school) Indy needed the headpiece to the staff of ra and then after picking up Marion in the bar fight the medallion is like never brought up again the rest of the film.
  3. The Crystal Skull was really cool, in my opinion. When they enter that chamber with all the skeletons in a council or something, totally awesome imagery. You expect it to all come together and make the whole adventure worthwhile but then...oh, I don't even know what happens! "I'll be alright, Jonesy! *wink* AHHHHHHHHH!!!" WTF?!
  4. The ending where the Government has mysteriously let Indy off the hook and he's got his job back or whatever? That sort of lazy storytelling/tying up of loose ends with no explanation is the worst. I know it's Indiana Jones but the plot was just all over the damn place. The best stuff was the opening in Nevada, introduction to Mutt and motorcycle chase and then basically everything up until they get captured again (seriously, Shia put in a better performance than Ford in scenes). After that, scenes are hit and miss and the finale...well. The less said about it, the better.
  5. I suppose it could be considered as one, I never think of it as a chase though. I do. It's all chasing, running and jumping from the cave to horseback and through the train! I would have voted for it but I went with "Desert Chase".
  6. Dracula (John Williams): 1. Main Title & Storm Sequence 2. Meeting In The Cave 3. The Bat Attack 4. For Mina 5. Night Journeys 6. The Love Scene 7. The Night Visitor 8. The Abduction of Lucy 9. To Scarborough 10. Dracula's Death 11. End Titles
  7. The Grail Theme is awesome in the now-released "Father's Study". When Indy looks up at the painting and then the part where he sees the photo of himself as a kid. A classic Williams spine-tingler. I do consider "Indy's Very First Adventure" to be one of JW's greatest pieces ever. It's difficult for me to rank ROTLA and TLC. I think TOD is the best, KOTCS the weakest. It's just a tossup between the other ones.
  8. Today I listened to The Cowboys and Jaws 2. Two magical scores from Williams' prime. "The Catamaran Race" was the whole reason I wanted the Jaws 2 soundtrack when I first saw the movie as a kid. To this day, the best cue.
  9. Here's my order for The Cowboys: 1. Overture 2. Main Title 3. Alternate Main Title 4. Deserted* 5. The Ranch 6. Crazy Alice 7. Schoolboys Or Cowboys? 8. Learning The Ropes 9. Wild Horses 10. Bedtime Story 11. The Drive 12. Nightfall 13. Rustlers 14. A Sad Day 15. Into The Trap 16. Stealing Back The Heard 17. Summer's Over** * I couldn't place this anywhere in the film but I think it could be an alternate cue for the scene where Wayne's men desert him for the gold rush and he goes into town? ** Same, perhaps an alternate finale?
  10. Do we not consider the train scene from the opening of Last Crusade one of the big chases?
  11. 4. Highlights for me are the "Main Title", unreleased cue for the DeLorean temporal displacement to alternate 1985, "If They Ever Did" (absolutely magical moment when the DeLorean goes back to 1955 and lands behind the billboard), "Pair O' Docs", "The Book" and unreleased finale. I love "The Book" from the point when Marty finds the almanac in Strickland's office and realizes it's Oh La La. Marty seeing George deck Biff and the tense last minute or so where he's running from Biff's guys and Doc takes off in the DeLorean!
  12. Jaws Anniversary, Jaws original, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Terminal, A.I., Star Wars I-III, The Lost World: Jurassic Park Fun night.
  13. "We're Out Of Gas" when the DeLorean is being pulled by horses!
  14. Indy swings into the mine cart (the best of them all) Young Indy escapes the train Indy is spotted on the submarine I think those are the best from each movie. My vote for KOTCS would have been for the variant heard when Mutt swings on vines, but popular opinion is that one's Mutt's Theme.
  15. I didn't think the Separatist motif is Lucius' theme. It's only heard briefly in the first scene at the book store, in no other Lucius scenes.
  16. 3.5 The new themes are great. This one's a very accessible score for me when I'm looking for something to listen to. However there is some poorly adapted music from the first film. I like the re-recording of "The Flying Keys" for the sequence with those little blue creatures, but I don't like the re-use of that piece. The Quidditch scene is a disaster musically.
  17. Star Wars Superman The Empire Strikes Back Raiders of the Lost Ark E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Return of the Jedi Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Hook
  18. Hook. I don't care what anyone says, that movie rules. Thankfully the music is mixed pretty loudly on DVD so I can always hear all that unreleased material in its glory.
  19. Another fantastic unreleased HP1 cue is the wand shop. What a magical scene.
  20. A great appearance is after Ben uses the mind trick on the troops and the landspeeder approaches the cantina. It's a really warm "feel good" statement that eases what was a tense predicament with the power of the Force. Always liked it.
