  1. Spoiler below is for music not featured on the soundtrack and is regarding a scene hinted at in the trailers.
  2. Williams after being reminded of his piggyback ride in Japan while being approached to work on a new anime series:
  3. Honestly, this is just sad. Williams took on Harry Potter because of his grandkids. Now they're probably all teens/young adults obsessing over anime. At this stage of his life, Williams is making a Hail Mary attempt to try to reconnect with his distant weeb grandchildren and show he's still hip by delving into the anime genre. At 90, Williams might be one of the oldest people to just now be getting into anime.
  4. Is there some sort of score breakdown of the original that you're following in doing your rescoring? I've had a hard time figuring out what some of the themes of the original stand for so I was curious if you had been able to figure that out somehow and were using that to supplement in your efforts. Or maybe you've intentionally distanced yourself from the original score so that you're working with a clean slate. Like, for example, I haven't bene able to understand what this pastoral theme is meant to represent. Is it a theme for the forest? A theme for Ashitaka and San? Part of it shows up in Mononoke's theme so it's kinda confusing.
  5. Do we think Williams will simply title it "Obi-Wan's Theme" or will he add a little titular fluff like with "The Adventures of Han"?
  6. Rando is not a system, it's a man (or woman). As I have come to understand it (and someone can please correct me), a rando is just some random, sometimes less than savory, unknown online person. The way the Reddit user uses it I think they mean that even the random, less-identifiable, unknown, low-posting user on here (generally) seems to usually know what they're talking about or add to the discussion when posting about film score stuff, which I think is generally quite true and is easily one of the most heartening aspects of this little site.
  7. Really admire the ambition behind this and you following through on a long seen goal. Thanks for sharing such a unique work with the community. It's been a really fun project to follow so far and your love for the film really shows in the compositions you've chosen to share so far. I look forward to your future efforts!
  8. You could honestly start with season 2 and if that jives with you more than go back to season 1. IMO I think season 2 overall is a more solid execution of what I think it is they're trying to go for with the show. The first couple episodes of season 1 almost seem like they were forced to be somewhat comedic and then the show quickly mellows out tonally. It feels like MacFarlane pitched the show as a comedy so that it could get made when in reality he just wanted to make something in the spirit of TNG so the first couple episodes almost act as an appeasement.
  9. If it makes you feel any better, I think the only reason you didn't get mentioned is because the entire article loses all of the (little) credibility it has when it names the source as a guy named "Manakin Skywalker."
  10. It's gonna be hilarious if it's not Natalie Holt. The very reputation of the forums is at stake now.
  11. Okay, it's getting kinda ridiculous they haven't just said who it is at this point. I don't quite understand the purpose of having such information withheld at this point.
  12. Was watching Spirited Away. With less than 10 minutes until the film closed, I felt pretty confident I was more or less familiar with all the core musical ideas of the film, but then it decides to unload this one on you:
  13. Maybe they didn't want to air it the day right before the Star Wars Celebration event this year, which starts on May 26th and goes until the 29th. Now it airs during the event.
  14. The article says that the director David Hunt is pictured. I am not quite sure who they are referring to. Is that just some random small-timey director I'm unaware of who happened to be there? If they're talking about the director for the project, if it's JFO 2 it should be Stig Asmussen, who has already been confirmed to be returning as director for the sequel.
  15. So, um, about this new Lego Star Wars video game, heh heh...
  16. So glad Williams chose to shorten the name of this piece from it's working title of "Fanfare for Solo Trumpet To Celebrate the Reopening of David Geffen Hall After Being Closed Since March 2020 And Undergoing a $550 Million Renovation That Was Originally Scheduled To Be Completed In 2024 But Finished 2 Years Ahead of Time."
  17. My choice would easily be Harry Potter. In addition to all the other great reasons listed, a smaller one that keeps creeping into my mind is the fact that if he had continued to score those films, as a continuation of the idea of him writing one new theme for a winged creature per film, we would have been essentially guaranteed in getting a John Williams dragon theme, and I can only dream what that would have sounded like.
  18. I remember @mrbellamy blowing my mind years back when he pointed out the similarities that existed between the Williams Dobby theme and the Dobby track Desplat gave us. I agree that it is coincidental, but still cool all the same. He also did a great rescore of the scene with the Williams theme that you might enjoy.
  19. I would also possibly argue that Williams uses it to indirectly reference Luke at the end of TFA as it's heard right before the Falcon blasts off to try and find him. Man, if that was the precedent set, then that means we would have gotten a big beefy rendition of Rey's theme to open each ST film. That would have been fantastic.
