  1. I saw the movie last night and was completely blown away! I was spellbound throughout the whole movie and it was one of my best experiences ces in a cinema. I loved the first movie and think this one is even better. The decision to split the book into two films was necessary and both films feel like complete movies which are part of a larger story. The first film set the stage and alongside all the big story beats that happened set up a lot of lore and history which is then further developed and built on in part two which has much more action. The movie looks incredible and having avoided the trailers, I was blown away by the imagery which together with the score transports you to Arrakis! Zimmer delivered a great score which builds on the material from the first score (both the score in the film and the sketchbook ideas). The love theme (which is derived from the House Atreides theme) is beautiful and cues like Time in Between Storms and Kiss the Ring are extremely moving. There are a lot of motifs, sounds and themes which refer to different ideas, characters and locations and I will definitively try to do some type of analysis of the album. I really liked how the ideas from Song of the Sisters was used in the Arena scene and in the seduction scene as that was always my favorite part of that suite. Even though a lot of major moments are included on the ost, there is quite a bit missing including the prologue. Denis Villenueve is a genius filmmaker who somehow manages to pull off adapting this dense book and you can tell that he has a real understanding of the source material. Chalame does a great job as Paul (the scene where he takes power is incredible) and Ferguson steals the show in her scenes (she is really scary at times). Zendeya as Chani and Butler as Feyd Rautha also deliver and in particular Bardem as Stilgar does a great job and delivers both serious and some lighthearted moments. The messiah scene has to be a nod to Life of Brian haha! The sequel was definitively worth the wait and I’m looking forward to seeing it again soon!
  2. The novellas from which this show will be based on are great. The storytelling takes place on a much smaller scale than GOT and HOTD and we get to see different sides of Westeros and its people. This show can turn out really well if they get the casting right for Duncan and ‘Egg’ and if they keep it on the smaller scale of the source material and don’t try to make it into a HOTD/GOT type show. I’m very curious how they will adapt the second novella as that story is directly related to the outcome of the Blackfyre Rebellions which I hope will be adapted in a later season of HOTD after the Dance of Dragons period is finished.
  3. I would love if Desplat scored this! Zimmer or Gia would also be good choices. Or might JW come out of retirement and complete the trifecta (returning for sw, indy and jurassic)
  4. Very exited about this show! Hope it lives up to the hype.
  5. In my thematic analysis I called it the A section of the Dune Main Theme, while the B section is the guitar/cello melody heard in Leaving Caladan after the A section plays in the beginning and together with the B section. They are often played together but maybe they’re separate themes, I’m not sure.
  6. They also turned down loads of free money for being listed as executive producers on all GOT spinoffs like HOTD. But like I said, that’s absolutely a valid opinion to have. However, it doesn’t change my mind about it being a masterful show.
  7. I think GOT and Sopranos and BB are great shows, if someone doesn’t, then that’s of course completely fine! The revisionism regarding GOT as a show is pretty amusing though but of course to each his own.
  8. I still need to watch the Wire! Have heard great things about it.
  9. Mad Men is a masterpiece on par with Sopranos, Breaking Bad and GOT!
  10. My most anticipated scores would be: House of the Dragon S2 3 Body Problem S1 Fallout S1 Dune Part 2 Eden Kung Fu Panda 4 The Fall Guy Gladiator 2 Inside Out 2
  11. I haven’t been a fan of Göransson in the past and thought his Oscar win for black panther was underserved, but Oppenheimer is actually a good score. I hope JW wins though.
  12. I don’t think the audience response to MI7 was an issue. People loved the movie mainly. The release date, one week before Oppenheimer and Barbie was a huge blunder from Paramount that completely ruined the box office. It would have done very well if it had been released in August for instance. I really hope that they don’t change the movie, I hope they film it as planned (though with a new title apparently).
  13. As soon as I saw the thumbnails I knew what you meant! Love both those moments!
  14. Ramin Djawadi will continue his collaborations with both Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy and David Benioff & Dan Weiss! He has written the score for the new Fallout show and for 3 Body Problem! The latter assignment was revealed in an interview with Benioff & Weiss. I’m really exited to hear these scores and both shows look great based on the teaser trailers! It seems that the 3BP show was almost done before the strike begun so I guess the score must have been close to finished for quite a while.
  15. The use of the Murphy Adagio cue in WW84 really annoyed me as it robbed us of an original cue for that scene featuring the WW theme but I think Tarantino uses music very effectively in his films.
  16. He’s also scoring Ron Howard’s next movie Eden.
  17. Love these scores, what a nice surprise! I hope they do OHMSS, Moonraker and TMWTGG next!
  18. I wonder if they’ll just recast like they used to do it if they’ll completely change their plans
  19. The first score is great but I agree that the sequel scores are better. I am a big fan of HGW but in the last couple of years I haven’t really connected to his scores as I used to. I hope that he can get his groove back because when he delivers, he writes remarkable music. I hope that this chicken run score is good (haven’t had time to listen yet)
  20. Yeah it’s a shame, I loved the Nolan HZ collaborations. But as Zimmer decided to pass on Tenet after the experience on Dunkirk, I wonder if he himself is happy with his decision. I kind of think so as he is working closely with Villeneuve now.
  21. I also prefer Legend to Mask score wise. The first film is way way better though. The opening track from Legend has my favorite variation of the main theme probably, when the strings come in around halfway through the cue. That variation is so good and full of energy!
  22. It’s kind of a part of his self taught image, but it’s known that he reads music. He writes in Cubase but he obviously knows how to read music. A collaborator of his was once asked about it in an interview but can’t remember who it was but he set the record straight. I’ve also seen multiple images of him reading and making notes with a pencil on the sheet music at recording sessions and rehearsals for the live shows. Like Elfman (who was known as a whistler very early in his career if I’m not mistaken), I’m sure that when he started out he probably wasn’t very good at reading notation but that was in the 80s.
  23. A big factor for the box office was not only covid but the fast release on HBO Max.
  24. Love it! The first part reminds me, a little bit of The Martian
