Yeah, but i wouldnt pay it overpriced. I think I payed about £60 the moment that the anthology was released. Think it was about 1993. Worth every penny at the time. Just think, back then, it was the holy Grail for Star Wars music fans. I remember the VERY long train journey home reading that fabulous book over and over again. Excited? That doesn’t even come close to describing how I felt at the time. I bought the special additions when they came out, I consider that I have most of the star wars music for the three films pretty well covered.

Im confused. They had the master recordings of first 3 films for the DVD’s, so the music exists, right? So to put it on cd is some kind of copyright issue?

Well I think the music in the clip sounds a little like Cutthroat Island but it’s not , yes a bit pirate theme but not uncomon of Williams to use a choir. If im not mistaken I can hear bits of TOD, The slave children’s crusade, But that may be wishful thinking. Howevere I quite like it.

That's a bit harsh, IMHO. TPM is a decent effort. There are plenty of great moments. Duel of the Fates is one of JW's best pieces ever. I agree that statement is a bit harsh. By the way the OST does suck because of the arrangement but if you edit yourself a complete intended version of the score you'll find that a lot more enjoyable. At least I know I do. Yeah I guess I do sound a bit harsh. I have a problem in as much as I have a hard time separating the terrible film from William’s efforts. Yes and if memory serves me well there are few hi lights in the score... Em ok ill give it another listen and let you know.

I found TFM at a car boot sale at the end of the days trading for £1, I snapped it up. I think that I’ve played it once in about four years. It just does nothing for me, Probably because the film was so terrible. If we talk Star Wars music then nothing can compere to the Empire Strikes Back. I think that Williams was at his peak. This is interesting to say because Raiders was about to enter the scene. I’d say that all 3 Indy soundtracks are excellent in a parallel way the original Star Wars films were. If we separate The new film and all of it dreadful CGI effects (Oh! We will have to endure them if Star Wars 1,2 and 3 are anything to go by.) And concentrate purely on the score then id say that we are in for another TFM. Dull boring and forever in the shadows of the music from the original trilogy.

Im sorry to say but im a realist too, and we are all a victim of the Lucasfilm merchandising. Oh we will get a release or the original soundtracks with all the extras im sure just in order to help sell the new film. Im dam sure its going to happen. Ohooo, God my wallet has just given me a nasty twitch. I have to admit I am ashamed to say the I have some of the soundtracks on bootlegs etc but I would gladly buy a fully remastered and expanded boxset, I remember how I felt when I saw the STAR WARS THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK ANTHOLOGY in the early ninety’s.... Oh the rush!

Excuse me but I thought that the soundtrack Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom on cd has not been released, except for the rare Japan cds etc. Ebay no 200104800926? What's this all about?

The cassettes that I have give no other credits except Ben Bert for sound effects, (Great stuff.) and I know that they are the real thing. As stated above, I am sure that there is other music that I have not heard before.

Hello, can someone help me with my wondering. I am not educated in music but I think that I know my original Star Wars music by Williams quite well, though I have become somewhat confused. Whilst out shopping the other day I picked up the Star Wars original 81 radio drama on cassette from a bargain basket. I thought that it would pass the time away on the journey home. I vaguely remember catching bit of it when I was younger. It boasts original sound effects and THE ORIGINAL OSCAR-WINNING MUSIC. Some of the music seems the same as the original soundtrack and yet other parts don’t. Did they use a different Orchestra, was it mixed differently or is there more unreleased music that has still to surface? Perhaps I am a bit naive about the latter. Anyway, it certainly had music in it that I had not heard before. The tapes that I bought were only the first four episodes of the production and I will now buy the complete sets of the trilogy. If anybody has not listened to these plays before, then I throughly recommend them.

Actually there is a point here, I sometimes come back to this version and give it a good listen, Kind of makes me feel like 10 again, You know what star wars is all about, it takes me back. Who could throw this one away.

Hello can somebody help me, I love the Star wars soundtracks to the first 3 films, You know Star Wars, Empire and Jedi, and have purchased numerous cd albums over the years. I have the Star wars Polydors, the 93 Anthology 4 disc set and all of the SE 2 cd versions. When I saw the repackaged fancy picture cover cds appear back along I thought is there any point swiping my credit card through Lucas’s cash register again. Surely they are the same tracks and ques from the SE’s? Indeed, my wallet gave a nasty twitch in my back pocket when I first saw them but is there any different music. I am not so much interested in sound quality, although it’s of corse important, but more so in any missing or alterative cues. I have heard about the 6 film cd box set proposed for next year......... Aw, my poor wallet gave another twitch just then! Again I am only talking about the early films as they are my favorite scores, but I like the others too, I mean it is Williams after all.

Oh my word this thread is made for me! I Agree with all of above but, I thought that the wampa scene was just fine. The big statement I would like to make here is PACE !! If they had to muck about with the films in the way a special edition then I thought that Empire in the series got of with it quite lightly. Except for the scene when Vader says “Bring my shuttle!” toward the end of the film. When I saw the special edition for the first time I nearly died. The pace set by the story before hand and along with it of course the music was just killed. I do not care too much about what they did to star wars (Or a new hope, or what ever they want to rename it) but the best film in the entire star wars trilogy was just killed at this moment. How could they do it!! It was not important to the story to add this new crap in. I am sorry but I am having to just stick my headphones on and listen to the original soundtrack and pretended that the special edition for Empire dose not exists, watch the film and you must see what I mean. Yea they cleaned up the effects and sounds and that was great but this must be the cruelest insert ( or poorest enhancement .) Of all the films. Forget who in star wars shot first TAKE MY SHUTTLE AWAY!!!!!

Hello, I don’t know if you know or remember it, but back in 1980 there was an in-depth documentary about John Williams on tv, BBC 1. It was about an hour long and it was absolutely fantastic. It covered his work mainly on The Empire Strikes Back, having been released at the time. I don’t know what the program was titled. It showed so many behind the scenes moments from the film and a lot of Williams’s scoring sessions with the L.S.O. All of this I have not seen since! So it must be in the archives somewhere. It would be great if it were released. I TAPED IT ON CASSETTE! Now there is some bad news and some ,well, alright news. The bad news is that I found out the tape only to find out that my brother recorded over it back along, drat! The other news is that I found out some other tapes and it seems that I copied parts of it but not very much. I also have a part from it from another show aired at that time. If you are interested I can send you the stuff I have, I can send it in mp3 or WAV, format. (You will have to give some time to find it out.) I don’t know the significance of this and maybe someone has a video recording of the program, 1980???, but I for one would love to see it again as I am a fan of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite soundtrack all time. If you have heard of ths program or even know of it’s existence would love a reply. Robin
