  1. HISAISHI-SAN! Why are tracks 1 from PM and SA just the best. How can you find something more adventurous than the PM intro? and more exciting than the SA intro?
  2. Man, what really makes this tune so great (greater than we remember) is that iii chord.
  3. Grim Fandango Until Dawn Monkey Island OT various JRPGs
  4. I just watched all 7 intros. It was like the sensation of being stoned, on the wrong side of youtube / YoutubePoop etc. That is all.
  5. I liked the deepfake video of young Robert De Niro for Irishman. Lucas and Scorsese should team up and make a new film using deepfakes. Oh wait I'm thinking of new deepfake Lucas. Is he any good at directing?
  6. 1:00 - 1:50 Typical Uematsu Beautiful melodies Mmm I really like what they did here with one of my favorite tunes. Although the original is better, they brought the choir from the original track (the beginning) and dropped the melody over it.
  7. I love the episodes of Seinfeld that end on that one theme 'Dun dun dun DAH-da Dun - dun dun DAH-da -' like an off-beat. It's so damn hilarious, I bet Larry David thought of it. Sounds like something he would hum annoyingly around others. Reminds me also of a backtrack from one of the Jackass movies, I think a Wee-man scene. I need to find these songs. They're masterpieces of comedy.
  8. I thought we're talking about films which were elevated . I don't think it's possible to elevate shit; that's what the plunger is for. Although I've seen monkeys try it.
  9. A great soundtrack to start out with. I think the first movie has at least 7 main themes! I love pirate period thriller stuff like Pirates otC, Count of Monte Cristo and Monkey Island.
  10. For me, I would fast-forward my E.T. video tape just to hear the end credits. Instictively I thought "Now this is inspired music." The buildup from 1:15-1:36 I later learned was the quintessential Hollywood structure developed by Bernard Herrmann.
  11. Well, 1-3 they got an actual wizard to write the music. That's why it works. (Strangely I think HP2 is my favorite of the scores. I mostly like the rehashes in there.)
  12. Always have. Never paid much attention to Williams' popular action music from a young age; heard more of his essence when he writes for piano. The big orchestra is a gimmick to me anyway, overblown. I listen to a lot of inspired and creative ensembles, ie. VGM, new age, music which gets at the root of compositional voices. Composers who had to use synth have been unproblematic to me, why I love Uematsu foundationally, he's not trying to please an audience. He's achieving more: speaking from the heart. This is kind of advanced soundtrack scoring. It's hard for average people to grasp.
