Now I got it. You read my explanation and understood girly = coming of age, so just have to come up with one coming of age story that is not about girls to prove me wrong. Oh dear.

Oh, Phillip Glass wrote something repetetive? What a letdown. -
OK. I never called Spiderman girly. And you seriously ask what is feminine about a coming of age story of a teenager girl, her struggle with tradition and expectations to her as a growing up woman? So, for you Ms Marvel and Stand By Me are the same genre? Interesting.

OK. First of all, I am not saying, that a TV show being girly is a bad thing. Second, the mention of "She is not a cheerleader" that is just typical US American. Why would "girly" need to be typically that? So, what is girly? Is it a coming of age story about a girl? Or what is it? So, the question in our is discussion in not, is Ms Marvel girly or not, but what is girly? Advice: Next time, when you don't know what to say, just shut up.

Hm. Ok. Then we really might have different definitions of what is a girlie show. For me this whole coming of age setting with parent conflicts, who am I, what impact do I have on boys, the power coming form jewlery of course (a bangle), what and who is important for me etc., all that is in my view what I call a girly show like Hanna Montana or other stuff like that. Even if I compare Ms. Marvel with for example "Extraordinary", which has kind of a similar setup, Ms. Marvel is more girly in comparison. At least to me.

Never really was a fan of her songwriting. But she was a great performer.

Was underwhelmed by the first Secret Invasion episode, then excited watching episodes 2 to 5. Haven't watched 6 yet. But these final episodes of these Marvel shows manage to disappoint regularly. So, my expectations for the finale are not high.

Am I the only one who thinks, that Mangold already did that movie about an outdated old hero going on his last adventure to protect a girl from evil vilains chasing them and he more or less already said everything on that subject before in a better way? Only this time the score is better. -

I guess you are right. Didn't even somebody here say, that Williams said that in front of a musical students class, that he wouldn't start a film composer career in the industry today? -

On the other hand these young composers today have tools at hand to support their work, that the old composers could only dream of. In a way it would be much easier to create these high quality scores today. But, in case of Williams for example, He had always the advantage of being a high end performer. Being a really good jazz pianist paired with his compositional skills and musical knowledge you might not find very often today. And modern digital composition Tools obviously invite to use some layered copy and paste techniques in composing that comes from electronic music. And, I said it before, that does not have much to do with classical composition. -

Meanwhile I suspect that from that the future where Spotify developed a conciousness (based on some self learning A.I. for autogeneration of playlists) and grabbed world domination it sent a terminator back in time to destroy all CD pressing plants. And this is happening right now. -

You are hitting an interesting point here. The main theme is not really memorable. But if I compare it for example with Howard Shore's "M Butterfly", which has some musical similarities with this one and actually has a memorable main theme, I must say, I prefer to listen to the Pope score because it is somehow more colorful in texture and variation. To me at least. -

Pavilion of Women - Conrad Pope Beautiful symphonic romantic score with some nods to traditional chinese music. -
The Men of the Yorktown has such a sweet melody like we don't hear it too often in Williams works. Is is a little bit like the Throne Room theme from Star Wars.

Listened to John Williams' Sleepers today and realised for the first time that this is musically some kind of older brother of Minority Report. It has a lot of similarities and similar elements. The themes are all different of f course but both scores have much in common in tone and kind of musical ideas. The way electronics and drums and voices are used to name a few. I never was aware of that. Both great scores anyway.
