  1. Have to go ESB, but Temple of Doom is on par...wished i could vote both :/
  2. "...for the other 5 scores" There is still chance that Williams will score DH part 2 or is it officially announced that Desplat will write the score for both parts??? I will probably buy it if the Deathly Hallows scores are good...
  3. Considering how great and how well developed the theme is in the six movies (It is definitely Williams best developed Theme in his whole career) the Throne Room track just is not enough Only the beginning of the track has the great epic renditions of the theme and then it changes to the coronation motif and the Main theme, rebel fanfare and Leia's theme. So 80 percent of the track are other themes and the Force B theme completely misses. For me a proper Force theme suite should build on the Force B theme (which only really appeared two times in six movies - Rebel Fleet/End Credits and Funeral Pyre (Film version)) and shift back and forth to the Force Theme. Sadly it doesn't look good, probably there will never be a real Force Theme Suite. Someone who attends Williams concerts should ask him about composing a Force Theme suite before he dies...
  4. The Force Theme (The biggest and most used Star Wars Theme but it has no concert suite and i'm the first mentionig it here, that's suprising ^.^)
  5. Why should POA be overrated. I mean its John Williams best score in the last 16 years right before The Phantom Menace. I can't say a single bad thing about POA and the complete Soundtrack offers gems worthy of elevating it even higher. Like the wonderful Hedwig's theme montage in the season change to winter, the atmospheric Hogsmeade sweet shop source music or the wonderful hardly heard chorus " A winter's Spell" sung by the choir in Hogsmeade. There are scores better than his oscar wins... Temple of Doom and Prizoner of Azkaban are better than Jaws Empire Strikes Back is better than Star Wars Jurassic Park, Raiders, AI, The Phantom Menace deserved an oscar too
  6. here is the link by the way if all other music is John Williams music, why would they compose or use something out of the game just for these few seconds I think it is Williams material
  7. In the new Star Wars The Old Republic Trailer there is probably 15 sec of unreleased and never before heard music included starting at 04:06. That could be from the original AOTC Finale although it doesn't sound like the Imperial motive or it is something else no one knew about!!!
  8. I so hoped it would be The Motion Picture. I don't enjoy Giacchinos score a bit, in fact i thought it was a big dissapointment
  9. I read it today, absolutely amazing!!! Let's hope that this will be reapeated. The first step is always the hardest but now finally the vienna philharmonic plays film music... I will be there at Schönbrunn. By the way, it is also shown in Austrian television.
  10. I like the Lost music but it is a shame that Giacchino (after his horrible Star Trek theme and synth sounding score lowered my respect for him) now starts to steal material from other composers. And it's done in such a bland and obvious way. He just took the first part of the "A Window to the Past" theme form Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and didn't even disguise it. You better call his theme "A Window to the Past - The story of Richard Alpert" (Original theme composed by John Williams, Stolen and changed by Michael Giacchino) ) That's almost theft. Imagine what could be the next step. Maybe taking the first part of Hedwig's or Indy's theme and use it for his own purpose all in all...very dissapointing behaviour of Giacchino and unworthy for an oscar winning composer
  11. 1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 3. Jurassic Park 4. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 5. Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
  12. Hm, i will definetly check it out I never even cared for the codec... So you tell me that my ripped 320kbps mp3's with Media Player and/or Creative Audio Suite may be sub par compared to Lame encoded 320kbps mp3's Damn, i want the best possible 320mp3 sound quality. What program shall i use to secure that or can i pick the right codec in audio rippers manually? Which codec is the best?
  13. Thx for the tip Chuck, do you use the freeware or the gold version and how works that program. What are the advantages to storing in folders like i do at the moment?
  14. That's what i thought too. If it sounds in fact identical to most on the majority of equipment mp3 320kbps is in my opinion good enough for digital storage... and in case i always can go back to my cd shelf and rip in better quality (although that would be hours and hours of work...)
  15. Is there any difference between 320kbps MP3s and Wav? I thought 320kbps sounded good enough for storage on an external HDD. I mean its almost CD quality
  16. I didn't regret buying the blue box although i wasn't familiar with the superman films at all. In fact i never even watched a superman movie (till today) and only listened to the scores included in the blue box . Besides Williams Superman 1 i enjoyed superman IV greatly and also the various source and pop tracks were interesting. One of the big reasons i bought the box was the over 100 pages book. The behind the scenes infos, analyses and interviews were a great read. Although the book's binding is bad and after four or five read throughs the whole thing fell together... I contacted FSM then and they replied that they know the problem with the bindings and sent me a knew one...that's customer service So support FSM folks
  17. I'm one of probably few I'tunes refusers. I organize my music per hand in countless of folders and only store it in highest mp3 quality (means 320 kilo bytes per second). The difference between that and the higher quality lossless files is not really noticeable. You would probably need a immensly expensive high end sound system to hear any difference. But with good equpiment there ceratinly are big differences when listening to lower quality mp3's. I have high end earphones (more than 200€ ) and its a joy to listen to high quality files but i cannot really listen to less than 256kbps quality anymore. With such equipment you hear the compression, the growing problems to seperate certain instruments or the loss of volume... When i looked at your trading lists and such i noticed that almost no one clarified the quality of your music. How do you store it, what is your opininon on these issues? Did you have trades where you got something rare and interesting only to find out later that the sound quality is so bad that it's not listenable?
  18. It amazes me that with all those oscar nominations and academy promos only two (AI and Hook) are known to include unreleased music. It would be interesting what the reasons for expanded promos really are after all. I can't imagine it helps that much for winning an oscar By the way Miguel, did you get my PM i sent you months ago? You never answered, would be really nice if you bothered reading it at least. Or are you simply refusing to reply to an occasional poster? )
  19. With all the Avatar Promo Buzz it would be interesting to talk about John Williams Promo Discs. The only one i know of is the AI Academy Promo. Do you think there were Expanded Albums sent out for some of his other Oscar nominated scores?
  20. I will probably never get why most of you like the Star Trek Score. Every damn KoTCS theme beats the Star Trek counterparts and the classic Indy themes are lightyears ahead of it. So KotCS will always get my vote comparing it to Star Trek. I mean how can you love the Trek score if even the two special composed Star Trek TV main themes are much better than the Giaccino theme (and also all of the movie main themes). It's beyond me. I can only quote my post written after watching Star Trek XI in cinema.
  21. "Water" Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom - John Williams "The Journey to Akataor - Panpipe Part" Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of the Crystal Skull - John Williams "Banning Back Home" Hook - John Williams
  22. Star Trek was quite awful. Every good Lost episode score beats it easily. The only good thing about the Star Trek score was the original Courage theme with that counterpoint theme in the End Credits. Oh wait that counterpoint theme happens to be the main theme of the movie! To me it sounds rather bland, mediocre and not really original or memorable. Besides, i don't even remember another theme or motif right now... (I watched the film only once and never listened to the album release) What a shame for Star Trek music with such unique and great soundtrack legacy like TMP or The Wrath of Khan. The new Star Trek deserved a great theme but got owned hard. Avatar at least presents us with about 30 percent great and original music and a new variation on the danger motif. With all that it already got much better than the dissapointing Star Trek score!
  23. That's not true... Of course he would have died in the real world but please wake up. It is an Indiana Jones movie and if you would watch for example Temple of Doom again you would realize: No one can survive a 500m fall in a rubber raft!!!!!! No one can survive a Mine Car chase with a JUMP in between!!!!! No one can survive an escape from 10000 gallons water!!!!!! Lava kills you if you are so close to it like Willie Scott because of the poisonous gas and the heat!!!!! A Plane crashes immediately if it comes in contact with a mountain top!!!!! There is no holy grail and no ark of the covenant and there are no burning Sankara Stones!!! Lava, 500m , 10000gallons water are real life events too! You accept all those things about the older movies and bash KOTCS for the SAME things surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge swinging on vines surviving three falls down a river
  24. Hm, it isn't that good but i would consider Amistad worse and there are some movies (like 1941, Poltergeist,..) i don't have seen yet @those who say Spielberg movies are all more or less the same nowadays: Minority Report is completely unique and NOT like anything Spielberg has done earlier or later. In my opinion his best film since Jurassic Park
  25. I agree 100 percent. I like most of Indiana Jones 4 and had a great experience in the cinema
