  1. You sir, are an idiot. You sir an even more if you mean that KoTCs beats the hell out of the miserable bad new Star Trek score. There isn't even a comparison to the ten classes better Goldsmith scores. The new Trek has a Weak main theme, no volume in the music and not even a memorable side theme. I watched the film once and the only things musically i remember are the main theme and the borrowed courage bit in the end which puts everything else in that score to shame.
  2. The German Star Wars Site Starwars-Union.de recently posted a translated 1999 live chat transcript with John Williams. That really surprised me as i wasn't aware that JW did a chat once. It's also not listed in Interviews on JWFAN. I googled a bit and found the original chat transcript right on the starwas.com page. I'm sure a lot of you don't know that "interview" and would like to check it out, so here is the link http://www.starwars.com/themovies/episode-...506099news.html
  3. Bear Mc Creary who you can talk with on his Blog per comments section. He takes his time and answers a lot of inside questions and also is very open to fan suggestions. The comments on his blogs even influenced his work and motivated him to be even better and more detailed in his BSG final scores...
  4. The film is not bad, certainly better than the last two but the score was so dissapointing. The main theme is bad and isn't able to make you feel anything for the enterprise. There is NO comparison to the 10 classes better Jerry Goldsmith theme (which is not in the movie, damn you Giacchino!) The other themes are not memorable at all for me. (I have just seen the film and didn't listen to the soundtrack release and never will) Overall it all sounds cheap and mediaventure like to me. There is no orchestral volume and power in it. I never thought Giacchino would deliver such a bad score after the great Lost scoring and his other movie efforts. I hate to say that but even Hans Zimmer would have made a better score than that one. He would at least have created a good main theme... (Giacchino lost a lot of respect from me but in Lost he still nails it. Strange world, he works harder for a (admittable great) tv show than for a 300 Mio dollar blockbuster movie)
  5. If Hooper really spoke with John Williams we can expect more of the old themes to return, which would be great. But i'm sceptical, as Hooper said in an audio interview last year he doesn't like arranging other peoples music...
  6. No, Star Wars beats the hell out of Star Trek
  7. I do listen to it quite often. At the moment i'm in Last Crusade Mode, so i mainly listen to that. I heard some of you complainig about the mix and audio recording but for me it's the opposite. I love the crystal clear heights and the differences in audio between LC and the other Indy scores. The Indy Box has certainly improved audio wise and especially improved for LC.
  8. 5 stars for the Complete Score and 4.5 for the OST presentation

E.T. the Extra-terrestrial 1982 6. Hook 1991 7. Schindler's List 1993 8. A.I. Artificial Intelligence 2001 9. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls 2008 10. Minority Report 2002 11. Lost World, Jurassic Park 1997 12. Empire of the Sun 1987 13. Saving Private Ryan 1998 14. Catch Me If You Can 2002 15. Terminal 2004
  10. Happy Birthday and may great JW scores follow in the coming years
  11. Spoiler Felix Gaeta's behaviour is completely understandable for me, as is Tom Zarek. It's Adama and Co who have seemingly "forgotten" what the cylons did to the humans. There can't be any forgiveness for that, ever. They made a treaty for peace with the cylons and really do trust them. That exactly has proven as a mistake many times before. And if the Adama regime also betrays democracy it's only right for the civil fleet and members of the galactica to plan a mutiny. I'm glad they finally revisit that story element and it proves again why the show is so great and genius!!!
  12. I'm not in any group of yours . I grew up with Jurassic Park and got really interested with the Star Wars Episode 1 score. So his post silver era scores have to be damn good. And i also really like KOTCS The recent scores i'm not really interested in are mainly WotW and Munich
  13. As far as i know probably 85 % of the complete Jungle chase consists of the new themes and motifes from crystal skull. Is this sarkasm or do you hate the score. I mean you call the best track of it with all the new themes interplayed (except crytsal skull theme) a medley of old themes !?!?! The only old themes in the complete chase are approximately 40sec of marion's, 30sec of the Indy A and 15sec of the B theme in a 9min+ piece...
  14. Flying theme from Hook Theme from Presumed Innocent (starts the end credits) JFK Main Theme AI Monica's theme Close Encounter of the Third Kinds 5 note motif Cadillac of the Skies Call of the Champions (From Olympic Winter games in Salt Lake City) Catch me if you Can Main theme The Reivers Main Title / Theme Sugarland Express Main Title / Theme
  15. 24 (season 7 looks great) Battlestar Galactica (sadly only 11 hours left of this show) Lost Scrubs
  16. Well, let me start but it's not easy to keep the list short Star Wars Superman The Empire strikes back Raider's of the lost Ark (But overall i enjoy Last crusade and TOD more than Raiders... ) TOD ET Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Jurassic Park Schindlers List Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (I know that i didn't list Jaws but i don't know the Soundtrack except the Main theme and so i have no special connection to the movie /soundtrack )
  17. As i consider me a Star Wars Fan i have to go with The Force Theme It's by the way the most developed William's theme, Raider's march had "only" 4 films
  18. Of course the force theme (I will quote now an earlier post of me partially^^) This is the most developed Star Wars theme and i think a perfect example what you can do with a music theme just through new arrangements. Check out: Episode IV hopeful and sentimental version: Dawn at the Lar's Farm mystic version: Scene in Obi Wans hood on Tattooine epic coronation version: Throneroom celebration Episode V longer mystic version: End of TESB Episode VI epic dramatic version: Death of the Emperor epic sad version: Burning of Vader Episode I sad and powerful version: Anakin's Goodbye sad version: Mix of Force Theme with Funeral March Episode II epic departing version: departing coruscant epic battle version: Gunship at Battle of Geonosis Episode III militaristic epic battle version: Start of Episode 3 militaristic lush approaching version: Going to Utapau epic dramatic choral version: Battle of the Heroes Once again hopeful and sentimental version: Ending of Episode3 That's of course just a small overview and maybe you can add additional versions
  19. It's not about hating Doyle. I was very dissapointed about the way he approached the movie. The main problem is that his music (especially in the first 45 minutes) is written for a thriller with some bombastic parts but he forgot the magic flare that would identify this as a Harry Potter movie. Even Hedwig's theme doesn't work well with his orchestration. He also didn't continue or wasnt able to continue the medieval flavour JW introduced in PoA. The Goblet of Fire was on TV recently and as i only watched it once in cinema i rewatched it now. Now the Doyle Score is fresh in my mind again. I have to say that probably 2/3 of the music doesn't belong to a Harry Potter Score, just feels wrong and so i didn't enjoy the movie (which of course has other weaknesses too). In the end Hooper managed to capture the vibe of the series way better than Doyle but was also dissapointing because of the little memorable music he contributed. It was nice underscore but didn't justify in any way to be called a really good HP score. I can't understand the behaviour of the producers regarding the composer selection. They should be able to compare Doyle's and Hoopers with JW's efforts and if they add 1 and 1 they would realize that they picked the wrong person's for the HP music after JW. They could have saved a sinking ship by at least ordering more Hedwig's theme or another William's theme like Fawke's or A window to the past but they obviously don't care. If it's right that it was a half year struggle to get decent music from Hooper it is the absolute wrong decision to let him continue to learn his job through a BIG Blockbuster Movie with JW as overmighty predecessor. It just has to go wrong... And i have to admit i hated hooper for not using the Hedwig's theme variation in the beginning of the end credit's and David Yates for stupidizing the end credits with a boring screensaver background. The other films were black or had excellent digital animations in the credits for the most part. At last the few positive things in Doyle's score. I think that the scene where Hermione walks down the stairways and enters the Ball room was absolute perfect scored. Also the Quidditch Worldchampionship music was nice as well as the waltzes.
  20. Hey guys, i finally got the box and in addition the FSM Superman blue box. The sound quality in both releases is amazing. I don't hear the rumored hiss or pitch problems in the indy box, so for me that doesn't bother if existing. I'm so glad that Last Crusade now has a much better sound quality than the original release. The booklet in the indy box is beautiful but not that overwhelming, but the blue box book is everything what soundtrack enthusiasts could have dreamed for. Now i really wish that fsm will someday get their hands on the star wars prequels, the complete indy release or the first harry potter films. I'm completely satisfied with the indy box. As it is no Complete Edition i did never expect extensive liner notes, which will come for sure with a complete release in the future. It's all about expectations, isn't it
  21. If that's the case then i meant the Flying theme, not the prologue. I thought both were a converged theme
  22. Someday it would be cool if (10-15sec) mp3 examples of every JW theme or important motif are listed/linked/posted on the main page. So everyone would be able to check within 10-15 sec how each theme or motif sounds. Of course as a true fan you know most of them but we surely want to attract new people and provide a great knowledge base about John Williams and what would be greater than actual 10-15sec music clips from his themes and motives. These clips would be even shorter than preview clips, so i dont think that it would be illegal to do that...
  23. I need clarification here please. Are you referring to the Prologue theme (first theme heard in Prologue), the Peter/Flying fanfare (later in Prologue, the end of Remembering Childhood), Capt. Hook's main theme (Presenting the Hook, Smee's Plan), or the Neverland theme (end of Flight to Neverland)? Gotta love Hook. I think i meant the Prologue theme, and also thought that this was called Peter Pan's theme, but i'm no hook score expert. I don't even own the score, just the track from the JW Greatest hits and the theme there in the beginning is the one i meant
