  1. It's always good to know that at least some people out here like KOTCS too. And about Arnold's score, I haven't much to say yet... I have to listen it more, but so far I like that the orchestrations sound pure, but I don't get the inclusion of some weird ethnic rythms that have nothing to do with what's happening on screen.
  2. Hey Faleel, will you do a rescore of the post-Williams HP movies with Williams music from his scores?
  3. I believe she also worked for Williams too. That's why probably she could ask for such thing. However, I think Johnny didn't make it to the deadline, as the service has been already done. Maybe he scrapped it or he's going to perform it on the near future, who knows... And just watch how the thread turns into a praising of Zimmer for respecting Williams. Some fans will even want him to score it after all!
  4. In her will, slain Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen requested that Star Wars composer John Williams write a piece of music for her memorial service—"if possible." Link to will: http://images.eonline.com/static/news/pdf/chasen_will.pdf (End of page 49)
  5. Was Johnny ever offered to score a video game? I mean, apart from that Star Wars game...
  6. He's probably scoring Cars 2 because of the James Bond feel the movie seems to have based on the trailers. I guess Newman didn't want to write in a John Barry style, so they probably handed it to Giacchino, who's an expert on this matter.
  7. I like a lot Dragon, Knight and Day, The Ghost Writer, The Wolfman (I like Pope's version better, but both are great) and The Karate Kid. I was very very very dissapointed with Inception. After all the fuss it had from the fans and Zimmer himself, I expected something more, and I guess even Zimmer prefers his earlier ideas (the love story score) than the ones that ended up on film. And I'm not too sure what to think about DH1... I like it, but it lacks something. Maybe watching the film will help me appreciate the score more... Yeah, I haven't seen it yet. Never cared too much for the series. I read until the fifth book and saw until the third film (I saw the fourth one but I was never able to finish it). I don't know exactly why people like it so much... Oh well, to itch his own...
  8. That's awesome! I love the new Horn that you added at the end! I still wonder if The Jungle Chase should have had more of this...
  9. The music in the old adventure games was the best thing that could ever happen to game-music. Specially with those LucasArts classics, like the five Monkey Island's, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, The Dig and others... The great thing about these games was that the music was interactive, in a very cinematic way. Nowadays they'll compose something for the background that doesn't change at all if you get attacked or not. For example, how much better would have Medal of Honor (Giacchino's ones were brilliant) been if the music changed progrevislly depending on your actions? I don't mean in a "copy and paste" form, but in a way that really seems like a film score. Those who come from the 80's or 90's will probably get what I mean.
  10. It seems that they have included a few alternates too on the promo. For example, "Training/Out There" (which on the CD is "The Downed Dragon") sounds slightly different than the CD version. There are some changes in how the Clarinet plays the notes and the Bassoon seems to be mixed more loudly. Just something to consider.
  11. I wonder if he'll take a different approach for this one rather than his usual Americana... I don't what it could be, but I sure I'll love it, no matter if its Americana or not.
  12. Powell can conduct but he usually prefers to be on the mixing booth, because his scores mix a lot of synths with the orchestra in a very classy way. However, I remember he conducted a couple of his scores, like "Stop Loss". And he also conducted the HTTYD suite.
  13. The complete score is here! http://www.dwaawards.com/
  14. Can't you put a YouTube link with your rescores? I would love to hear 'em.
  15. I can't believe it. Just yesterday I was watching the Naked Gun movies and I kept laughing and thinking "Boy, this guy is a genius!" and now... He's gone. However, he will always live on our memories, and thanks to him the world can keep smiling. Thank you for existing and making our lives happier! RIP.
  16. Ok, it seems that Badelt wrote "Goodbye Brother" from The Prince of Egypt. A really emotional cue...
  17. I don't rememeber where I read this, but as I recall he did parts of "Chariot Race" with Gregson-Williams, with Zimmer's themes. Perhaps Koray can confirm if this is right?
  18. Some of his stuff for The Prince of Egypt or Gladiator was quite enjoyable. I recently read an interview with him were people keep asking him about POTC and he said something like "You know, I've written some good music after that". And I agree, listening to his stuff for non-Hollywood films makes me wonder if he could have delivered a real pirate score for POTC, if Bruckheimer wasn't deaf. Of course, this would have probably avoided Silvestri from getting fired...
