  1. It's from The Forest Battle (Concert Suite) from Return of the Jedi.
  2. I don't know. I'd have to check that, but I do find the mystery motif a bit similar to one of the parts of Elfman's Batman theme. Or is it just me?
  3. Well, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial - The 20th Anniversary, but I guess that doesn't really count, does it? I don't have the official Episode II CD. Just MP3's. I still want to buy the CD though. If I ever get around doing it [if I can ever afford it, that is]. :? -- Marc, who thinks CD's are rediculously overpriced.
  4. I remember seeing a funny home video about a year ago. It was a tribute to Jaws. You see this beach. You know, nice summer day, people milling about, kids playing, when we hear [gasp] the JAWS theme! People start running and screaming, and we see a mother gasping in horror. We see what she sees: a little toddler playing in the surf. He just sits there, unaware of the danger and panic. The music goes faster, the mother screams a bit more, we see the child again, and the camera pulls back to reveal -- a guy in a diving suit playing a cello! The sight of it was so absolutely hilarious. You have this tiny kid playing, and over it looms this six foot frogman holding a cello, playing the JAWS theme. Total baloney, but funny nonetheless. Marc, who saw it on America's Funniest Home Video's. :lookaround:
  5. I know. That indeed sucks, does it not? Marc, who wonders wether he'll have to wait as long for the soundtrack as well :cry2: The Death of Qui-Gon and The Surrender of the Gungans from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace: The Ultimate Edition
  6. I don't know, but in my The Making of Star Wars book from 1977 it says: [picture of miniature filming] This is how an X-Wing is filmed with the special Dykstraflex-camera. It even requires a computer. It even requires a computer. Hehe. P.S.: There are even some nice things about the composer for the movie, named John Williams. He was introduced to George Lucas by Steven Spielberg [who?] (from 'Jaws') [aah].
  7. Wow. Indeed he was. Marc, who looked that one up. The Arrival of Baby Harry from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
  8. The big problem with A.I. is just the third part. The first part is real Spielberg magic. Happy faces, idyllic family situations. Wonderful. The second part is incredible. The moment David is dropped, the tone shifts to a dark, cynical one. The Flesh Fair and Rouge City are amazing. But then, at the end, when David reaches New York, the story slows down. It's like they were busy writing it, and then suddenly have to make an ending. David's underwater adventure is just too slow to my liking, and those last fifteen minutes seem to go on forever, giving you the feeling that that was a much bigger part of the movie than it actually was. That is why most people, when they left the theater, felt the movie sucked. The ending is so crucial to a movie, and here the ending was just not good enough. Nevertheless, I still think it's a great movie. It has so many cool things in it. The thing I like most is the fact that no robot blinks. EVER. That's cool. But it's just the third part that, to most people, killed the movie. Marc, who has proof the ending is the most crucial part of a movie, because he knows someone who says LotR: FotR sucks, because "The ending didn't make any sense", not knowing he was watching the first part of a trilogy.
  9. I just went to harrypotter.com to check out the new teaser for COS. But, WTF?! It's only a shitty thirty seconds long! They say it is "a 30 second tease of the upcoming teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". What is up with that? I don't want to see a mere 30 seconds! I want it all! They'd better upload the full teaser, and FAST, because my belief is slipping. They hold this up much longer, and I will join He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named on the friggin' Dark Side! Marc, pissed.
  10. Hey, whaddaya know! I had no idea Ralph McQuarrie designed E.T.!
  11. I fear to think what Episode III will be like. This movie has so much possibilities, I just know it's going to be disappointing. This is the serie's grande finale, it should kick Empire's ass, but there are just so many ways in which to screw things up. It'd better be good. Marc, prepared for the worst.
  12. My favorite one is actually from TPM, when Qui-Gon cuts through the door on the Federation battleship. But as it's not listed, I've voted for Burning Homestead from ANH. Walk On from All That You Can't Leave Behind by U2.
  13. I believe it is the 'mystery' motif. Check John Takis' Musical Breakdown on the main site.
  14. You know, Elrond. "The Stone cannot be destroyed, Harry, son of James, by any craft we here possess. It must be done by... music!" He takes out his flute and starts playing the Harry Potter theme. Marc, bored.
  15. How about: The Bullwhip's Back The legend you know. The adventure you have yet to imagine. Marc
  16. I know the first draft of Back to the Future started with Marty making a bootleg copy of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It started with Marty patiently waiting for it to finish, while the end credits slowly rolled by. It didn't say wether the sound was on or not, but it would have been cool to hear Williams' music. They also used The Imperial March once in an establashing shot of Mr. Burns on The Simpsons.
  17. It is indeed rediculous. My mother bought me the DVD, but she went to a large store, not a CD/DVD store. The Warner monkeys (related to the Sony monkeys perhaps?) decided to give the large stores the P&S version ONLY. So naturally, I got the wrong one, but I was able to return it and get myself a proper version. I hopped by our CD-store yesterday and all widescreen versions were gone, but they had tons of Pan & Scan... BTW, since both HP and LotR are shot on Super 35, there is less image loss than usual, but it still is total BS. Marc, confused at Warner and Newline's stupidity.
  18. Happy Birthday Danny!!! Marc, who can't get the Batman theme out of his head and listens to Elfman every weeknight (The Simpsons!!!).
  19. Speaking of The Godfather, they also had a The Godfather Trilogy 25th Anniversary compilation. Is that any good? I've only seen The Godfather and not the other two parts, and I forgot to pay that much attention to the music, so...
  20. I stumbled upon these two scores at the CD-shop this afternoon, and I'm wondering whether they're worth the try. You see, I'm more into the big, brassy scores like Jurassic Park and the Star Wars trilogy, but perhaps it would be nice to take a break from that. But I also do not want to limit my collection to just Williams. I want stuff from other too. So, I would like some advice on these two scores. If you would, your kindness would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Hmm. I've got bit of a problem. The things I want to add are Lando's Palace (3:53) and The Clash of Lightsabers (4:17) That would make a total running time of 88:35 minutes. But there's not enough room on Side A to only fit Lando's Palace, and there's not enough room on Side B to fit both. What should I do? :cry2:
  22. Al right, here's the story: I got the Star Wars SE Trilogy discs, and I friggin' love 'em. One problem though: I can't listen to them in the car. We don't have a CD-player. So I'm planning to record it on a 90-minute cassette. This is my first draft, and I'm still missing some music (CD 2 from ESB, for instance), but I'd like your opinion. What should go, what should stay, what should come? Please tell me. Side A: 1 20th Century Fox Fanfare 0:23 2 Main Title/Rebel Blockade Runner 2:14 3 Burning Homestead 2:50 4 The Battle of Yavin 9:06 5 The Throne Room/End Title 5:36 6 The Imperial March 3:03 7 The Battle of Hoth 14:48 8 The Asteroid Field 4:15 Total: 42:15 Side B: 9 The Rebel Fleet/End Title 6:27 10 Parade of the Ewoks 3:28 11 The Pit of Carkoon/Sail Barge Assault 6:02 12 Alliance Assembly 2:10 13 Shuttle Tyderium Approaches Endor 4:06 14 The Forest Battle (Concert Suite) 4:03 15 Leia's News/Light of the Force 3:21 16 Victory Celebration/End Title 8:33 Total: 38:10 Total (Side A + B): 80:25 So... tell me.

    Hook

I first saw Hook about six years ago. I was eight and I friggin loved it! A true kids' fantasy adventure. Almost every time it's on TV, I watch it again. Although I must say, the first half hour is more for adults, while the rest of the movie is more kids stuff. But hey, I still like it.
  24. Vader. He is just da mastah! Sidious is cool too, but I think he as himself (as Palpatine) is much cooler. Palpatine is one bad-ass m*****f***ah! *cough* Zam the Assassin and the Chase through Coruscant, trying to find Vader's theme. No luck so far.
