BLUMENKOHL 1,070
We're not really talking album per se, so don't go ranking the 30 different releases of Star Wars. Rank Star Wars with your opinion of its best release, and only put it in once. But the catch still is that the score has to be in your collection in a non-compilation form. So here I go:1. Prisoner of Azkaban2. Star Wars3. Empire Strikes Back 4. Return of the Jedi5. ET6. Raiders of the Lost Ark7. Far and Away8. The Phantom Menace9. The Last Crusade10. Jane Eyre11. The Lost World12. John Crichton 4
1-6. BLUMENKOHL 1,070
I'm actually quite surprised/intrigued about a few trends:More people have Sorcerer's Stone above Azkaban...which contradicts the recent poll. Nixon seems to much more respected than I once thought. I thought I was the only one who found it good. The more modern scores and mid to late 80s tend to decorate the bottom of lists. Jaws, isn't in a lot of top 5's....which is amusing, considering the praise it gets. And finally the biggest shock I found:Schindler's List. Speaks for itself if you look at the lists. I would never expect that.
Ray Barnsbury 8
Nixon seems to much more respected than I once thought. I thought I was the only one who found it good.I just started listening to Nixon, and was surprised by how good it is. It's dark and brooding, but I find it pretty engaging throughout. "The 1960s: The Turbulent Years" is of course a great, powerful track, and I love "Growing up in Whittier"...very unique atmosphere in that one.Ray Barnsbury
indy4 155
I'm sure some of you will hate me for ranking some of his popular scores so low, but this is just my personal preference.Okay, here it is:1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban2. Jurassic Park3. Superman: The Movie4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade5. 1941 (mainly for Swing, Swing, Swing)6. Jaws 27. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial8. The Empire Strikes Back9. Catch Me If You Can10. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone11. Home Alone12. The Terminal13. Raiders of the Lost Ark14. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets15. Revenge of the Sith16. Hook17. The Phantom Menace18. Star Wars19. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom20. Attack of the Clones21. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York22. The Lost World: Jurassic Park23. Empire of the Sun 24. American Journey25. A.I. Artificial Intelligence26. The Cowboys27. Jaws28. Close Encounters of the Third Kind29. Minority Report30. The Eiger Sanction31. War of the WorldsSome Extras: I predict Indiana Jones 4 will be in the top 15, probably even higher. I hope!!!Another Extra: My favorite JW compilation CD is "By Request....The Best of John Williams and the Boston Pops". Great arrangements (particularly for "Theme from Jaws", "Suite from Close Encounters of the Third Kind", and "The Cowboys Overture".Alas, one more extra: If Family Plot was released on CD, though I would have to listen to it more, it would probably find its way to the top 15, probably taking the place of Revenge of the Sith.
