ST:TMP Love Theme?

ST-321

Recommended Posts

I just saw this on a film music blog:

This is the vocal version of Jerry Goldsmith's love theme from Star Trek: The Motion Picture as sung by Shaun Cassidy. I converted this from my vinyl copy of the 45 rpm single. The song was never released commercially in the United States, but was released commercially in Japan. It was released to U.S. radio stations as a promotional single.

I am too frightened to even listen. Has anyone heard this?

The funny thing is, I bought this really cheap cover version CD of "Space Themes" (including Star Wars, E.T., etc.) years ago, but it includes a cool version of TMP theme (jazzy) and.... 'Star Beyond Time' (vocal version of Ilia's Theme).

For those unfamiliar with the vocal version I highly recommend to NEVER listen to it, because after you've heard you will never be able to listen to Ilia's Theme the same way.

Whenever I hear that theme now, the words automatically enter my brain and all I hear is the song... :)

Indiana....is his name....

Hunting Nazi's...is his favorite game....

Great, now it's gonna take me another 6 months or so to get those words out of my head and enjoy The Raiders' March the way it was meant to be...

There's this a capella medley out there that has a bunch of JW themes with quotes from Star Wars as the lyrics. I often hear those when listening to the Raiders March, the Superman March, or the theme from Jurassic Park.

Never...ever listened to The Piper Dreams also.

Good for you, really.

Indeed. I've just about managed to get those awful lyrics out of my head, I kept thinking of them every single time I heard that (beautiful) theme in the score. :)

The links in your signature show a penchant for that particular kind of...cheese.

Well I can understand it when referring to Taxi, It was a very good year, and Exotica in space.

But The Equalizer theme is cheesy? :) For me, it is anything but :D

To be honest, it's rubbish. Just a bunch of synth strumming eventually followed by something almost resembling a musical idea....but not quite.

If it were cheesy it would at least have some redeeming value, but I can't even do that.

It's as bad as most TV themes these days.
