Koray Savas 2,251
So basically violence and sex? Isn't that what Bond is all about?Criterion announced their February titles. On The Waterfront and Sansho The Baliff for me.
Wojo 2,453
I just ordered the LOTR: EE BR box set as well. I figured that if I can spend $30 on Jaws, only one movie, I can surely blow $10 more on three movies. I'm only going to upgrade the really really good or visually stunning movies from DVD to BR. Koray Savas 2,251
Amazon is killing me right now. The Tim Burton 8-film set is $30. The Tarantino 8-film set is $70. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is $15, which I ordered.I got the previous Deal of the Day they had for the Mel Brooks 9-film set. At this point I'm not gonna open any of these until after the Black Friday deals. Who knows what they'll lower and by how much.

Joe Brausam 215
I'll definitely pick up the Alien box set for $20, I never picked it up before because I've never seen any of the films and the price was too high to justify on a set full of unfamiliar films. But for $20? I'll bite.Amazon has the Indy box for $50 right now...does anyone anticipate that being any cheaper in the not so distant future? I'm wondering if I should get it now or wait. A24 4,353
In the meantime I purchased the Criterions Howards End Mmmm ... too bad Criterion is region A only. One of my very favorite movies but it is not available on Blu-ray in this part of the world.

Jay 37,416
The Indy box will be cheaper next year for sure. But this year? MAYBE there will be a sale on Black Friday in a store somewhere, and hopefully Amazon will price-match it. Who knows for sure, though!
Koray Savas 2,251
I think it has a good chance to be on sale for Black Friday if it already dropped from $70 to $50. The JP set was on sale like a couple weeks after it was released.
Wojo 2,453
Well the Alien BR box at Amazon is back up to $40 so there's xenomorph goo in my eyes for missing it. I could wait until Sunday, I suppose, or just a later date. But TLOTR BR box is back up to $99 at Amazon. Holy smokes. How many people bought it just to return it at a brick and mortar store, and make money, even for in-store credit?

Maybe an extra $25-$30 off.I'll be getting Tintin, Brave, Hunger Games, and Dishonored for PS3. A small haul but they've been giving out some great deals recently. filmmusic 1,844
For anyone interested, here's a very short unofficial "review" on the "Blue Lagoon" Bluray release from Twilight Time by Bruce Kimmel:"I also took a gander at the other Twilight Time release, The Blue Lagoon and it is spectacular. The movie is what it is, but this transfer is so beautiful and lush and the Basil Poledouris score sounds incredible. It’s so sharp, in fact, that you will see a lot more of Mr. Atkins and Miss Shields (body double for her) than you ever saw in the theater. Gorgeous-looking."(for anyone who doesn't know, the Bluray features an isolated score track)

I can't wait to pop in the first disc. It's the best one. Blu-ray really shows how beautiful and creative (yet functional) Alien is. The aesthetic experience is even greater than the narrative.
