lordskylark 1
I found this website completely by accident tonight while browsing the internet. Not sure if anyone else knows about this, but you can apparently browse the full scores of most of James Newton Howard's music at this library. And they also give the full cue lists even on that website for his scores.http://www.usc.edu/libraries/finding_aids/records/finding_aid.php?fa=0075#ref8
Datameister 2,100
Wow...great find! Not enough to make me wish I'd picked that...other school, but still.
lordskylark 1
While not as interesting, I found this too -- some book that has excerpts from different film scores... but they somehow had access to the original sheet music and were able to obtain some original cue numberings/cue titles... such as that 9M2 from Return to the Jedi is "Brother and Sister"http://www.bookrags.com/tandf/music-excerpts-tf/
Datameister 2,100
It's the best book on film scoring I've ever read. Lots and lots of very practical, meaningful advice. Highly recommended - and not just for the engraved versions of the scores!
lordskylark 1
Is there a bibliography to see where they got those scores from?
Datameister 2,100
I believe they do thank their sources in the book, yes. JoAnn Kane Music Service might have been the primary source, but I can't remember for sure.

Pieter Boelen 741
Does anyone know if that Suite from Lady in the Water ever surfaced?
Richard Penna 3,802
I've never seen it.And that makes no sense - why record a suite that won't go in the film, on the album, or in a footwarmer?
crocodile 8,138
But... it was recorded. Or wasn't it? I'm sure I read something about that.Karol
Richard Penna 3,802
From http://www.scoringse...s.com/news/103/ :The very last thing to be recorded was a suite of music, covering most of the major thematic material in the score. It remains to be seen whether or not this suite of music will appear on the soundtrack.
ZackR 95
Just re-listened to Lady in the Water and The Village today for the first time in a LONG while. I forgot how much I enjoy them both. Thanks for the link too! Very interesting!

tharpdevenport 4
Yes, but it looks like that archive is continually updated with new scores; they're about a year or so behind the current new crop, but still.
Richard Penna 3,802
Very cool resource I think. For one thing, it gives an idea of how much material is missing from some of his OSTs.Although it doesn't seem to be accurate when listing all existing alternates. I Am Legend for example has way more than listed there. It stops in 2009, so they're a bit more than a year behind. And he's done more than 10 films of various sorts in '10/'11. Boy does he need to slow down.
