All great releases. I am not necessarily an audience for this type of a genre. I might get PP sometime in the new year but, for now, my wallet is grateful for a bit of relief.

Based on the past, yes this is probably it. Although LLL and Intrada have been known to throw in a December release from a film that’s currently in theatres or recently released.

You know The Molly Maguires is a serious drama (with violence), right?  These aren't all "light" scores.

I did wander when the original Pink Panther would get an expanded release after their excellent box set of the sequel scores from a few years ago. Mancini is one of those composers who was one of the greats and I always enjoy his stuff when I listen to it but rarely rush to put on. However think I’ll pick these up. It does seem a shame that so many scores of the era only have original tracks in mono even when they stumped up for a stereo soundtrack recording and release (same for the Godfather and Jaws, to some extent).

Oh cool... I would never have thought about this as ripe for an expanded edition but excellent. I remember finding it very hard work when I got it years ago during my earlier collecting days but it's grown on me immensely. Bernstein gets some decent mileage out of repurposing a few passages from Herrmann's rejected Torn Curtain for this one too. I always thought it made for an effective "re-recording" of Herrmann's original even if it's obviously not recording what Herrmann wrote exactly. The tracks from the original film sound pretty poor from what I recall so this probably remains the best way to experience this score.

You're not the only one... if it had been possible to release it like that, it would have been an excellent double header. Having had a quick look, I don't think the original tracks have ever been officially released. I could have sworn it was on FSM or something but apparently not (unless you could one of those dubious Tsunami releases). Maybe the tapes have been lost or are just in terrible shape?!
