Bellosh 3,484
Shark vs whales. Who you got? 'The Shark Cage Fugue' - John Williams: 'Whale Fugue' - Leonard Rosenman: This is a difficult one for me.

gkgyver 1,646
Rosenman's music is fitting for an episode of Our Little Farm, not Star Trek. Yavar Moradi

Thor 7,602
I could never get into Rosenman's music, I'm afraid. Not even fairly easy, straightforward stuff like STAR TREK IV. So no contest here. Naïve Old Fart
rough cut 1,715
Am I wrong when I say that Whale Fugue sounds like it was composed by Patrick Doyle?

Can't really hear that. Doyle never does tone pyramids like that, but I guess you could say there are some similarities in the layered string writing. Jurassic Shark 12,195
Why not throw in a fugue by Bach while we're at it.
Naïve Old Fart 9,675
WHALE FUGUE is pretty an' all that, but, really, there's absolutely no contest.

bruce marshall 1,319
You know it's funny... I saw this in first run. Loved it. I remember thinking - when they free the whale- man" I wish John Williams scored this; he would have knocked it out of the park." Instead , we got the ok.cue from Lenny Bellosh

ThePenitentMan1 761
Resurrecting this thread because why not? I'm afraid I'm not quite that familiar with Jaws' score in general, but I just listened to Shark Cage Fugue several times in a row. The Shark Cage Fugue is certainly good as a film cue, but Whale Fugue still gets stuck in my head all the time, and I'm not sure I'd change that position even if I get more familiar with Jaws' score when it eventually gets reissued in 5-20 years. So it's an easy Whale Fugue for me.
Mr. Hooper 1,889
Shark Cage Fugue. At least give us two choices that are remotely comparable in quality.

GerateWohl 4,448
By the way, did Williams write any more fugues in his score apart from the Shark Cage Fugue and Preparations from Black Sunday?
