If it was midway through a cue then I could maybe see how it could be ambiguous, but being right at the start indicates to me that it was deliberately thought through by Williams. The entrance of a cue is the most important part and sets the tone entirely for what is unfolding in the emotional storytelling, so it's often given much more scrutiny by the composer, director, producers etc. We think we're about to hear a full quote of the theme but then it goes somewhere unexpected, dangerous and intense to support the storytelling.
