John Crichton 4
Well I thought it was pretty well done, but I didn't catch all of it (I usually don't watch pre-games). The music that I heard was all Williams, they selected the concert piece of The Forest Battle for the end. A nice choice, I love the ending of that.John- who agrees with the portrayal of the Yankees as the evil Empire.

John Crichton 4
It's pretty unfair to call the Marlins an empire after only winning the Series last year. They did win in '97 too, but that was a totally different team that was sold off the next year. And as for the Braves, well, they are my favorite team so I can tell you: making it to October every year and then blowing it is in a lot of ways worse than not making it at all.John- proud to call the Red Sox his second favorite team

John Crichton 4
Fun fact of the day: before last night the Yankees had lost Game 1 in four straight postseason series, and went on to win three of them. Maybe winning last night was not a good sign for Yankee nation. Boston exposed the Yankess big weakness last night: middle relief and bullpen depth. They were just too far behind to take advantage of it. Couple that with the fact that Mussina is the only NY starter doing anything, and Boston has beaten Rivera twice this year...I know, I'm looking for silver linings. But I'm also right. hoby12 0
Actually the yankees have strong mid relief and closing is the best in the game - it was Moose that let up the 6 runs - and starting pitching which is the problem that plagues the yankees. Some game though - should be a great rest of the series - both teams are just sooo goood - the best rivalry in sports. and acutally yankees are the dog for this series according to the paper. PS I was born/raised in NY and have always had three teams I root for:NYY, NYR, NYG - i dont watch basketball much anymore - but was at the giants game when the beat the vikings 42-0 to go to the superbowl. John Crichton 4
I'm a Texan so you'd think I'd be rooting for Houston, but I really don't care either way, I like them both. St. Louis was a favorite of mine in the late 90's because Mark McGwire is my all-time favorite player. And I don't have a grudge against the Astros for knocking out Atlanta, I'm used to October Disappointment by now.As long as either of them beat the Yankess if they make it to the World Series, I'm cool. hoby12 0
The yanks are so succesful because of they are a great package.Brian Cashman the GM is the best in sports and Joe Torre is the best manager in sports.Peeps like Jeter and Rivera and Posada came up through the farm system - add people like Bernie and you get a good deal of people who have been on the team for ten years or more. That is pretty rare in modern sports. Plus how can you blame them for spending money? When you win you get more fans and more money. And they have been winning alot! And Yankee Stadium is one of the most famous stadiums in the world. Its the complete package.St Louis Looks good though! Should be a good world series between them. But there is only one Jeter.......one Jeter to rule them all......And if you have any doubt who I root for look to your left.

hoby12 0
just for sport - i posted that before they won.But wow - good stuff the yankees choked - and the bo sox cant do anything unless ortiz does it.The baseball has been pretty exciting but I am just SOOOOOOOOOOO sick of Fox's terrible coverage of this play offs. The games are going on to be 4-5 hours each! How the hell can this be?? Fox is showing 4 - 30 second spots after every half inning or pitching change or injury and then after the commercials there is one to two fox spots for really bad reality television shows. Tim McCarver has to be the worst announcer ever - he REALLY says some stupid stuff - the Jean they have over at the sports desk messes up more then Bush while speaking (and that is hard to do). And then the records! They have records for everything"this is only the second time ever a batter has got hit by a pitch after fouling off a 1-1 pitch in the same inning that the manager scratched himself and the third basemen caught a ground ball that was probably foul."you get the idea.....but still Yankees go back to the bronx - with the chance to win it! Should be a good one - i hope it takes less then four hours cuz I cannot get any work done with this nonsense on tv.

It came down to individual players. Ortiz was amazing, as was Jeter. The game was almost lost in the 13th due to the passed balls. One of the best games I've seen in a very long time.
