pixie_twinkle 60 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I'm not surprised at that crazy price. I'm still happy with the $150 I paid for it. I've been watching it for two months now (8 movies so far), one movie a week with friends. Great stuff!

pixie_twinkle 60 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Just preordered Brazil (Criterion) for twenty bucks from Amazon. Nice one!
filmmusic 3,272 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 hello.I wanted to ask: has any non-US citizen ordered from amazon.com lately?I tried to order 2 Blurays (Home Alone 1&2, & Dead Poets Society) with expedited shipping (as I always do), and now for the first time I have to pay import fees!!!I never had to do that..By the way, If i use Standard Shipping, there's no fees.Has anyone ordered that way before? If the package is lost I assume you don't get a refund, right?
filmmusic 3,272 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 you got jipped.Sorry? I tried a dictionary but it didn't have a translation! Anyway, I think i'll order by standard shipping.Another person from my area told me he always orders that way and he didn't have any problem ever.12-20 days for the package to arrive..
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 you should have googled it.It means you got cheated, ripped off.
Wojo 2,458 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 It's also a racist term that implies all gypsies are sneaky thieves, since the term can be spelled as gypped or gipped as well. Thing is, I don't know any gypsies.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Amazon will refund your order if the package is lost or damaged.
Jay 46,245 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Brave Blu ray will be $8.96 starting in 40 minutes, until supplies last.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 It's also a racist term that implies all gypsies are sneaky thieves, since the term can be spelled as gypped or gipped as well. Thing is, I don't know any gypsies.that's why I used the J spelling rather than the g spelling.
Wojo 2,458 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Well I never knew that it had racist origins, but it has just permeated the culture and become a common phrase. Much like jury-rig, which granted also has racist origins, but is still better than another common synonym for the term (and no, I don't mean West Virginia chrome, either).
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 filmmaker should cancel his order. why pay expidited shipping especially if they are going to rip you off with stupid taxes.btw I've always gotten my orders for Amazon really fast once they ship. One order did take a week to put together but got it two days later. My last order from Friday arrived today.

I will order with the standard shipping..
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 sorry for the mix up of your name. but yeah I don't want to see anyone get screwed over.
Marian Schedenig 11,695 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Well, after the Indy box and the Hitchcock set I finally gave in and just ordered the Bond set as well, for GBP 75 (plus shipping). Turns out the UK version does indeed have the uncut CR, so everything should be fine.Come next week I'll have about 50 unwatched Blu-rays... should last for a while. mahler3 1
Jill Sandwich 11,171 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 So I caved and bought The Dark Knight Trilogy on BD. The alternating aspect ratio on the last two films is as distracting as I predicted, not to mention the variable picture quality. Even Batman Begins is in dire need of a remaster.Skip this and wait for a later release.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 It's only $30. If one were to get Rises on its own, they'd be nearly spending that much anyway. WB announced another trilogy set for release early next year, but I don't want to wait that long to see the films again. I haven't watched Batman Begins or The Dark Knight in years.
Jill Sandwich 11,171 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 There's a good feature on the music on TDKR though.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Better then the actual music?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Nolan must be a fan of Alien!
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Received a ton of Amazon goodies today. Got the Batman trilogy a day early!
A24 5,157 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Nolan must be a fan of Alien! That's the secret of the Bane and why people fear him. He eats facehuggers for breakfast.
A. A. Ron 2,485 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 And the amazon gold box deal of the day is... the Indiana Jones set for $39.99!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 picked up the Walmart exclusive Goonies, Gremlins, Gremlins 2, trio blu ray for 9 bucks.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I don't have Goonies on dvd but I do have Gremlins and Gremlins 2. I've got to go through my dvd's and give my duplicates away that I've replaced with blus.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 And the amazon gold box deal of the day is... the Indiana Jones set for $39.99!Why'd they have to do this right after LLL's releases? Ordered.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I actually got an Amazon order today that was wrong. I was missing a movie. I called and they will send out a replacement tomorrow with one day service.
A. A. Ron 2,485 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Why'd they have to do this right after LLL's releases? Ordered.I know!! Looks like Home Alone 2 will have to wait, limited or not.
Wojo 2,458 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 That Walmart exclusive wasn't at my store.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 turns out I did have the Goonies on DVD after.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 amazon replaced my lost bluray and I see it's been delivered.
filmmusic 3,272 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Quick question:I received 2 Blurays that I had ordered from a US online shop. The funny thing is that I've received an extra box with 4 more BLurays in it!!!The address on the box is mine, but the receipt inside is addresed to a poor fella in Canada. It's tempting to keep them, but it's not the right thing! (actually only one of them interests me, the other 3, not)What would you do in my place?(do you think they'll make me ship them to him, or maybe they tell me to keep them?)edit: Anyway, I just notified them..
Wojo 2,458 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 You've done the right thing. Honesty is the best policy.
pixie_twinkle 60 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 It wouldn't surprise me if they let you keep them. It's their error, and they shouldn't expect you to go to the trouble of returning them. They certainly can't charge you for them if you don't return them, as you never ordered the discs in the first place, therefore you have no legal obligation to pay for them. If they do request you return them, Amazon should physically mail a return-paid packing box to you so you don't have to go out and buy one. You did the right thing informing Amazon, because at least they can get a replacement package off to the correct address.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Amazon doesn't send out prepaid boxes. You print out packaging labels and place them on your own box or envelope, etc. He also never specified if this was Amazon. This sounds like my Buysoundtrax scenario. Received a package with my name on it, CD inside had a receipt with someone else's name on it.
filmmusic 3,272 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 It was Barnes & Noble. And they were 4 Criterion Blurays.I myself had purchased another 2 Criterion Blurays that also came.(still no answer from them)
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Free Criterions?! Holy shit keep those
