Matt C 454
Filming starts later this year, with Harry Potter's Emma Watson playing the role of Belle. Bill Condon will direct the script by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Steve Chbosky. And today it was announced that Luke Evans (The Hobbit) will play villain Gaston, while Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens will take on the role of the Beast. No release date, but I'd wager March 2017 or thereabouts.

Thor 7,504
IMDB lists Alan Menken as the composer, but I assume this hasn't been confirmed and he was just added by some random IMDB user, right? I'm guessing Carter Burwell is more likely, given that he scored most (all?) of Condon's movies. Could give us an interesting score.Could be that they're using some of Menken's themes from the 1991 movie.

Romão 2,274
The character of Gaston is in this, and was created specificaly for the animated version, so perhaps they are adhering pretty closely to that version. Jay 37,364
Interesting, I didn't know this before:Watson herself had been previously attached to another version of Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s fairy tale at Warner Bros. That project stalled after director Guillermo del Toro dropped out last summer. Apparently Del Toro gave Watson his blessing to move on to Disney’s version, no doubt sweetened by the fact that the script was written by Chbosky, who directed Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. RedBard 71
First, moratorium to boost sales later on (affectionately known as the "Disney Vault")Now, live-action reinterpretation of their older films to cash in on current canon (almost like printing their own money). How much you wanna bet that they're going to do a live-action reinterpretation of The Little Mermaid next? Jay 37,364
That's a likely candidate. There aren't a lot of Disney animated features left that feature human characters that hasn't been given the live action re-do yet.

Bring on The Lion King in 3D animation!Or even a live-action version of Lilo & Stitch with a 3D Stitch digitally inserted into the film.Pinocchio could happen, I guess. With the last few live-actions versions of Pinocchio (and a couple of them real steaming piles of cinema), I think Disney would hedge their bets on this one.Not to mention the potential nightmare fuel that'll emerge from it. They were treating Dumbo cruelly in the circus at the end of the movie. With his own private car, reunited with his mother, living in the lap of luxury, and making millions of children happy with his talent that he shows to the world in exchange for the luxury extended to him.Oh, yeah. Dumbo was in a circus equivalent of Alcatraz at the end of the movie."Joke" is too good of an insult for PETA.
