    God creates  Man.
    God creates chocolate.
    Man ignores God.
    Man eats chocolate.
    Man dies of a coronary.
    Chocolate inherits the Earth.

It's a double edged sword. It can bring out the very best in people, it can bring out the very worst in people.

Charles Aznavour wrote some beautiful original Christmas songs in French. I've just restored this italian version of "Noëls d'autrefois" (Christmases past).

One of my personal favourites. Such aching melancholy...

Indeed and it was the song via which someone on the net introduced me to Drake's work.

I guess that was nine years or so ago now (crikey, the years are speeding by)

However, to some extent I've overexposed myself to that particular song to the point that the effect is less magical than before

(without a long long break between playings, I mean)

I bow with respect at this section (1:44 to 3:49), always...........

I stopped being a completist because I had all these CDs I never listened to. A lot. What a waste.

I don't know if this is some usefull input or not, but.....................

I became more and more discerning not only with CD purchases but also DVD purchases, with age.

In my late teens it was not uncommon for me to buy at least 2 new VHS tapes or CDs, each weekend. Madness!!!!

(and that's when those things were more expensive than they are now, generally)

It has to be a really good film / series or musical work that I'm pretty sure I'll watch or listen to many times, before I'll purchase a DVD or CD.

I'm sorry, i don't know if I should post this here, but I'm very proud and moved to post here this magnificent film song by the great Alex North, sung by my best friend and more than a brother George, in yesterday's The Voice of Greece. My friend is not a professional singer, he just loves singing with all his being and has taken some voice lessons. But it was enough to enchant all 4 judges and the people. I wish you could understand their comments, it was one of the most moving moments in the show till now..

(well, I'm not in any photo in the beginning because I don't like taking photos. Fortunately I didn't go in the Green Room because I would cry my eyes out and would be very embarassed! )

Apart from being very exposed to Oxygene 4 in my youth via radio but not knowing who actually wrote it (or perhaps I did hear the name but had no face to put to the name, back then), Revolutions was the first album through which I was introduced to Jarre around 1989, would you believe. A friend of mine had it on cassette and I worked backwards from there, obtaining LPs of his earlier works. It is why I can't now imagine Revolutions 'without' tracks like Revolutions, London Kid, etc, but in the back of my mind I always wonder if he ever intended his album to be like that originally. The fantastic early instrumental movements seem like the direction he was probably going with it, but he either changed direction mid stream to reach a wider audience or some other reason. I don't know, I always feel like there was more to the Industrial Revolutions movements that we never got to hear. Oldfield started doing this as one point his career too, some instrumental sections and then opting to include more crowd pleasers, so to speak.

At the end of the day, the post 'industrial' tracks are simply enjoyable and memorable too. I love this version of London Kid................. 3:52 , oh yeah

    It's a true gem, isn't it.

I'll never tire of how he sneaks up on us and give us that Oldfieldgasm at 5:47
