That really was dramatic - in fact I think the went a little too far. Some damn funny moments though.

It'd be nicer if they performed some music from the series itself although I read that the theme will be performed, or probably more accurately crucified. TBH, I'm not that excited about the proms this year, particularly the film one. The orchestra performances of dynamic tracks are somewhat lacklustre (Escape to Paradise last year was a pretty underwhelming performance for me) and they usually only choose British films from like the 30s and 40s by composers I've barely heard of.

Hmm. So that wasn't a joke made by Mark on page 1. I enjoyed Cars but not as much as the rest of Pixar's output. They must have some good ideas, or Lassetter's being very pushy.

There's gotta be a choir. There's always a choir in Williams fantasy score.

I won't settle for compressed files either. Rich, you'll find I'd say about 90% of score collectors will prefer the physical CD over compressed files. I can appreciate that. My point was just that by preferring to buy CDs, instead of settling for digital files, the cost of releasing something goes up, clearly sufficiently to make it less likely that we see any unreleased material. I do still buy CDs for the mega important stuff, LotR: CR for example. The problem I have in recent times though, is that I know collectors buy the physical CD to have something they can hold and feel complete, but that's where the problem lies for me. I rip a lot of unreleased music/credits etc from DVDs which usually amounts to a couple of cues. Now with a downloaded album, I can integrate these into the playlist, but with a CD, the disc no longer feels complete. For example, the film version of the main titles to Sleepy Hollow is +- 1 minute longer than on the CD, and I ripped/edited the track to include the extra music. Along with the 2 or 3 additional cues I ripped, the CD for me has a sense of no longer being complete, and if I were to take it somewhere and play it, my enhancements wouldn't be there. You could say just burn another copy with the edits, but then you don't have the original pressed CD.

CD first. I'll probably pre-order it from Amazon which only once before have I done blindly, but hey... this is Indy.

I'm not worried about the SFX content either. I've seen enough 'making of' documentaries to know that even the most character oriented drama can have all kinds of visual effects work - sky replacement, removing modern features etc. And Merkel is right - 100 shots is a really small amount. In fact, if you put those 100 together it'd probably last no more than 3 or 4 minutes. In a 2 hour film, that's nothing at all.

What, we'll only have individual polls to grade every track, a poll to grade the entire score, polls to grade every theme, a poll to select your favorite theme, a poll for your favorite track, a poll for your favorite Raiders March statement, a poll for rating the packaging, a poll on if you plan to rip the unreleased music, a poll on how good the unreleased music is... The implosion will happen when a full scale war erupts over everyone's ranking of the four scores, followed several months later by a midnight raid of the Lucasfilm archives when we realise they've blown their latest chance to release the full scores. And you forgot the polls for track order, stupidity of the album editor and favourite film version of a cue.

No. Spielberg bowed to Lucas' pressure and tracked the entire movie from the first three so I already have everything I need to make IJ KotCS: The Ultimate Edition.

Never understood why people love Ludlow's Demise so much. I'm a little torn over whether to buy the CD, or buy it digitally. I have no use for CDs, but then this is such an important film and score for us.

Call of the Crystal. I love slow, moving, haunting, epic themes, and this might just be it. The Jungle Chase is a close second.

I hope it will be the best so far. But I really don't know.

I sometimes wonder why they bother at all with these stupid 20 minute releases. Now the digital age is well and truly here, I look forward to the day when we can routinely download complete scores. For those who prefer CDs, I think it's a sacrifice that has to be made given the limitations of a disc.

You know, "Return" kinda sounds like one of those 30 second thematic outburts which normally we are scrambling for the DVD side channels to get hold of. Probably isn't, but it really would show Williams turning over a new leaf with his album construction

It's about money isn't it - they just keep making them until the cow dries up. Toy Story 3 could be good. I was a bit cautious of this one since it was first announced as a possibility some years back, but they must have some good ideas because Pixar would never have agreed to do it if it was just Disney wanting a bit more cash from the franchise. It's been said before, but there's a world of difference between Pixar and Disney. The latter just keeps pumping out any old straight to video crap, whereas even though the quality has varied a little recently, Pixar's output is far more consistent, and they generally don't need A-listers to make a movie that does well at the box office.

I think it's very likely that finale will lead into the credits, but that's just a possibility. No Indy score so far has left off the credits. But if they have chosen to leave them off in favour of more original music - fantastic! Blu-Ray? I doubt you'll have to worry about that Drax. Besides, once one person has ripped it, that's it.

My excitement level has just shot up 50000%. Looks like we might get at least 3 new themes (Skull, Mutt, Iriana), but I'm sure the 'and' in track 17 means 'we're putting 2 separate scenes together, and losing a whole bunch of music from in between'. And I agree about the credits - I'd far rather have two tracks rather blandly named' departure' and 'finale' and get that music, than just get the credits which you can bet your ass will have duplicated music. Just got to hope he's done the album properly this time...

1. I'm sure the Jurassic park theme stuck with me from an early age (I would have been 8 or 9 when it came out but I'm sure I didn't see it in the cinema), but it was The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that made me notice that there was some music in all these films I'd been watching. It was the one element that truly affected me when I walked out of the cinema. It remains, 7 years later as my favourite score ever. 2. The effect was gradual, but I logged onto Kazaa (yeah I know) and started finding other cool tracks. Single tracks from Air Force One, The Mummy, Waterworld, 13th Warrior and Harry Potter were among my first acquisitions, and I could fit my 'collection' on a single CD. Strangely though, even when I was in lower sixth form in 2001-2002 I would tell people that I was into 'synth' music, which I used to perform magic to. 3. Not really.
