  1. Couldn't agree more with this. From the sound of this, the movie might open in some kind of mysterious scene, and so I think the treatment of Hedwig's theme could be entirely appropriate. And of course the movie and characters are growing up, so it's time for the music to as well, and I've been waiting to hear this theme not only in a big, sweeping arrangement like this, but also in minor. I love this cue and personally have high hopes for this score

  3. Definitely: Geisha Munich GoF Kong (both) Jarhead (Newman) Will consider: Narnia Oh, and super definitely: Fellowship (I really don't care about finding this online first, I just want it )
  4. That's just...so horrible and unmagical. At least the LotR songs were related with the movie and even used its themes, but this... If this is what record companies have to do to sell scores these days, I fear for the world (because that can't possibly be in the movie....can it?)
  5. Is that overpricing or what... at Amazon.com's price it should be about £30 Could well be cheaper to order from the US. Of course I'm getting it no matter what the price - I've been wanting all the music from these movies for years.
  6. LOL Unless Spielberg's remaking it in a few years... The Patriot Reprise
  7. Hehe, you think that's a rip-off? Listen to the Main Titles of McNeely's Return to Neverland - I think he was listening to The Rocketeer and Yoda's theme when composing the main theme (at 1.25)
  8. Actually, JNH wrote the theme and several cues from the film. Given that it's not clear which these are, I usually consider it to be mainly a work by him
  9. JNH is one of my favourite composers, so while I'm very disappointed for Shore (the prospect of having another LotR type score was huge), I'm now quite anticipating what Newton Howard will come up with, and I need a decent score from him after Batman Begins, which disappointed me. My favourite scores by him are Signs, Dante's Peak, Falling Down, The Village, Dinosaur, Waterwold & Wyatt Earp. Hidalgo is also very good (the last 2 tracks take my breath away every time, although I thought the movie sucked) and I gave the bootleg of My Best Friend's Wedding a listen yesterday - it's a travesty it wasn't given a proper release
  10. 1 - Story of a Foreign Guy 2 - First Date 3 - "Let's All Wave at the Handprint Guy" 4 - Escalator Stampede 5 - Viktor Fixes the Plumbing 6 - Hitched 7 - Can 'o' Peanuts 8 - Who Waits in a Crack 9 - Music from the TVs and Some Sappy Stuff 10 - "Did you say Gate 67?!" 11 - Air Traffic Broom-troller 12 - Learning English in 2 Hours 13 - Last Bit Before the Credits 14 - More Credits
  11. Brilliant I'll try another couple: 1 - A Water Droplet 2 - The Boat Sinks 3 - "Hey Robbie..slow down!" 4 - Earthquake..no, wait, what's this 5 - Rachel's Annoyed 6 - "We're under attack", but not from Europe 7 - A Really Long Arm, and scene 8 - The New Jersey Walk-a-thon 9 - Don't Remember This Anywhere 10 - The Family Quits Arguing 11 - Home of the Psycho 12 - But We Never Left Boston... 13 - Everything Else From the Movie 14 - He Survived??! and Someone Didn't Do Their Research 15 - Some Cool Trumpets and Last Crusade: 1 - Boy Scout Meeting 2 - "..and X Never, Ever Marks the Spot"..oh, wait, it does 3 - The Nazi Stunt Display Team 4 - Ahh Sh!t 5 - Escape from the Fez Guys 6 - Out the Window 7 - Lonely Old Guy 8 - "What Happens at 12 O'Clock?" 9 - Going Somewhere in a Truck 10 - Blowing up a Tank with a Rock 11 - "A Few Thousand Small Steps for a Horse" 12 - "And One Friggin Giant Leap for Indy" 13 - Named After a Dog and Raiders March
  12. I'm afraid that's where our opinions could hardly differ more. I'll admit the film was actually quite good, and had a profound effect on me back then (I was around 13 at the time, and I'll also admit I got Dion's song on tape - yes, cassette), but Horner's score I just can't stand. Way too many synths and I'm surprised they didn't break the anvil from so many uses
  13. I recently got hold of Spirited Away after seeing the movie, and what a score! Great theme & very imaginitive. Also ripped the iso score from I, Robot, which unfortunately has Beltrami's commentary over some of it, but it's opened up & some of it is very inventive.
  14. Me too. I've made my own expanded versions of a few movies that don't have too much surround activity in some cues, but I'd never do it for the whole movie. Anyway, Raiders is nearly complete anyway, and LC has a good OST and at least a complete bootleg, so I say TOD definitely. It feels a bit unjustified when Lucas keeps re-releasing his own SW scores, but the Indy scores get nearly nothing
  15. Ok, here's a Zimmer one for you (and this is my first attempt, so go easy guys ): Golden Globe & Some Crappy Plot Stuff Hand Going through the Wheat and A Glimpse to the Film's Ending The First Action Setpiece Max Chats to Some Survivors Wasted Horseride Picked up by Some Foreign Guys Commodus isn't a Happy Bunny He Died of Natural Causes - Yeah Right Another Fight and a CG Transition to a CG Rome Max Laughs at Proximo We Will See Them Again (You Sooner Than Me) Quick Trip to Rome Yet Another Big Battle and Max's Cheesy Revenge Speech "I Think You've Been Afraid Your Whole Friggin' Life" Through a Big Mysterious Wall "He Was a Soldier of Rome" (or Maybe He Was a Little Pissed With Commodus) Big Pan Up to CG Rome again and Some Names Oh, and I'll try SPR while I'm about it...only 10 tracks: Remembering Everyone Who Got Killed Pretty Distraught Man "Yes, We're risking the lives of 6 men to bring one guy back and stop some family line ending" "Sorry Folks, we've got the wrong Ryan" The Cute but Unused part "Now We Have to Give Up our Socks?" Obligatory Character Death 1 Pep Talk and Repetition of most of Track 3 The Big Battle and Obligatory Character Death 2 Remembering Everyone Who Got Killed...again
  16. My only criticisms of that are how much it focuses on the soloists and Annie Lennox, who to be honest I don't really care much about and would rather hear more about the score itself. *Note to self* read above post twice before replying. I'll have to try & find that one sometime because I didn't consider it worth the exorbitant price.
  17. As much as I respect Star Wars, I find myself listening to LotR far more these days, because it's part of the reason I got into scores. I don't think 'listens to/enjoys more' necessarily means better, just that you personally like it more:)
  18. Coincidentally, a friend game me Spirited Away a few days ago and told me to listen to 'Reprise' first, which blew me away. Then I gave the whole thing a quick listen He also lent me the DVD, which I'll get round to watch pretty soon and see this stuff in action
  19. That's pretty much up there with Emperor's Death from ROTJ and Qui Gon's Noble End:) Williams has a knack for such flubs. Add the last track of JNH's Sixth Sense to that list. I saw it before seeing the film, but luckily got too engrossed in the movie to remember it 8O
  20. Dang, I was in Berlin 2 or 3 weeks ago (great city by the way, though a lack of music shops), some Williams music played live would have really made my day
  21. My anticipated list would have no end - I just need to hear all of this wonderful music by itself 8O Oh, and I'm not sure what the deleted link above was, but there's a site called Hirgon's Lord of the Rings clips (or was - I've googled it and can't find it) which has DVD rips of stuff like Caradhras, Boromir at the Council (an awesome rip, I don't know how they did it with no voice echoes), the whole Amon Hen sequence and some source music.
  22. RotK feels no more than a 'highlights of' CD to me, as there's a huge amount of music missing. Steef, I think all 3 albums have problems including enough battle music (I mean RotK has only two tracks with any music from the actual battle)
