Yeah, there's of course different models to cover different price ranges. Luckily there's a proper piano store where I live. It's ages since I was there, but I fear they'll have mostly Yamaha.
Well, there are also good Yamahas. I had a grand piano which was a Yamaha. But the best is to try out the piano in the store.

Cool. I'm planning to purchase an acoustic piano myself - I've only got a digital one now. I'm not sure whether to buy a used (old) one, which can be had for a bargain on web marketplaces, or a brand new one. What's the approximate price of a new Schimmel?
That really depends on the instrument, I paid 15k$ for it but I'm sure there are used ones that are cheaper and also very good.

How old is it, and did you purchase it yourself?
It's 12 years old now and yes, bought it by myself.

Wasn't a lot of music written without the film finished?

The only real thing I disagree with (or find out of my place) regarding the winning entry is the use of that Spanish trumpet that intervienes a couple of times. I don't understand what the hell is doing there
But apart from that I've been humming the main melody since I've heard it, so no complaints from me.
You may like this too

I'm absolutely aware that I didn't walked a new path here. But besides the 8bit sound the winner didn't too. I love it btw. I have to say I wasn't interested in the context of the scene to the series and it was my intention to only score whats on screen. So the whole drug thing wasn't important to me as no single take in that scene was from the guys perspective. Just curious, would you classify my track as generic? I tried to avoid sounding like a Hans Zimmer clone but maybe I failed!

Interesteing video from Spitfire co-runner Christian Henson:
I think there are some interesting comments too.

Maybe it was the intention to send the message to nowadays composers, that it is important to break rules to succeed. It's a tough business and just following the rules doesn't help.
-
What do you think, in a competition like this, is it important to knew the context of an isolated scene? Or does one have to work with what is on screen?
-
I know that my approach of scoring this scene was way too old fashioned. But it's what I like listen to, so it was great fun to compose for an action scene like this.
