Anyone care to tackle John Murphy's 22-track MIAMI VICE? I believe it's completely out of order
-
I have an entirely different (better) opinion of this score now, having heard it in full. THIS is why complete scores should be released!
-
Listen to "Chasing the Snitch" then listen to AOTC
-
My appreciation for this score has significantly increased
-
Where did you see that, scoreman?
-
You gents are aware that you no longer need to find the unreleased music from rips right?
-
Agreed! This score would benefit 100% from a complete release. Faleel, are you referring to a DVD rip or a... *ahem*... "different" version?

20 minutes of additional Empire Strikes Back music?
bondo replied to karelm's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
I'm all for using silence in films, but I never really realized how MUCH good stuff was cut out -
lol Thanks! Must've missed that.

Is this still coming?

Here you go Karelm: -
It seems that when it comes to Zimmer, his detractors conveniently ignore the use of temp tracks... all others seemingly get a free pass. I don't recall John Adams getting in a frenzy after hearing Don Davis' THE MATRIX scores. And let's not forget David Arnold's use of the jaunty Jack Sparrow theme in the latest Chronicles of Narnia.

I've been listening to this score all week and have begun to appreciate it because of the analysis. Sadly, I might have completely overlooked "The Island's Voice" motif if you all did not mention it.

Love the covers, Pieter!! Where can we get these in higher resolutions?

For: Sometimes you can get an improved story/cast & crew/director/visual effects/topical relevance than the original. Also if the original is available on DVD/Bluray, who cares if they remake your favorite movie? Against: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sometimes the appeal is the ACTORS, not the plot, ie Back to the Future -- I watch that movie for the chemistry between Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, and that can never be replicated.

You have to do a little homework (Hans-Zimmer.com, ASCAP credits, etc) to find out who wrote what on most Zimmer scores, but it's out there.

Ditto what Thor said. This is not an issue about "better" or "worse," but "different."

Alan Silvestri scoring Captain America: The First Avenger

Yes it is in chronological order. Personally, I moved the March to the very end of my playlist right after "Passage of Time" and omitted the song altogether. I STILL can't get enough of this score... although I'm enjoying The Avengers, I find Cap to be a far more rewarding (and enjoyable) listen. -
I'm with you Koray, I think people just don't do their homework before they make blanket statements about Zimmer and co.
-
Zimmer likes composing with other people, get used to it and move on. It's not going to change.

How is that rubbish? The conclusion of the film, as heard in "Paradox" and "Time," was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had in a film. It's a terrific theme that perfectly encapsulates what the characters (and the audience) is feeling at the conclusion of the film. "Time" is absolutely beautiful, and it immediately comes to mind whenever I think of 'going home.'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZvKKblnC_4 For all the criticism he receives, few composers are as eclectically unique as Hans Zimmer. You can always GUESS what the next Zimmer score is going to sound like, but you're never 100% right
