OneBuckFilms got a reaction from Manakin Skywalker in Danny Elfman's SPIDER-MAN (2002) - NEW! 3-CD Expanded Edition from La-La Land Records (2022)
The fact that it says "Album Version" is a pretty big reveal. It tells me that there is at least something other than the album edit of that cue exists.
I think this was a (not very) subtle easter egg to confirm that they are at least working on Spider-Man 2.
Of course, I'm just stating the obvious that others have likely said in different ways already, but I'm anticipating good things, so I don't care.
At any rate, if this and Spider-Man 3 are given the LLLR treatment, we are in for an amazing time.

I'm not convinced the naming means anything specific, but I agree that especially given they did the first one, it's a very good indication that the secone one's coming. I gave the sessions a very quick skim on YouTube and actually there's a lot more here than I remember, particularly in the alternates.
The movie's 2 hours (excluding credits) and the album has only got 44 minutes (!!) of score... either fees got in the way or Elfman was in a really conceptual mindset when he made it. It means that catering for alternate versions (and hopefully other composers' work) there's absolutely tons of missing music. I am so up for an expansion.

Yep, Doc Ock's theme is really good - works great in action mode.
I only have a few tracks from the first score (so I was never going to bother with LLL's set) but I might be interested in #2 if they managed to include the rescores by Debney (and whoever else). I was never crazy about the OST, but an opportunity to revisit and make a custom playlist from all the material recorded for the film, would be interesting.
And this leads to further ponderings.... if LLL is about to announce this next week, could Spidey 3 possibly be on the table? Probably the only score other than JPIII/Gladiator that would make me properly thrilled.

I hope it's a hint that we might be getting a expanded Spider-Man 2 soundtrack

Interesting choice using a track from Spider-Man 2. Hopefully it was intentional 🤞

OneBuckFilms reacted to Jay in James Horner's HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS (1989) - NEW! 2024 Intrada Expanded Edition
In the last 5 years, Disney has only licensed out six scores to Intrada. Half of those were James Horner scores. Pretty cool

I think, meanwhile there are more Horner expansions than Horner scores.

Just like Batman, The Last Crusade, Ghostbusters 2, Lethal Weapon 2 and, by the end of the year, The Little Mermaid and Back to the Future Part 2.
It must've been a crazy year for movie nerds! Probably the most packed full of blockbusters since Jaws and Star Wars invented the concept.

Plus it sounds like it could really use a new master. Isn't this one of the most-complained about loudness war ones?

Wow, the clues do seem to fit that film nicely.
Would this be the first Brian Tyler expanded score release, if that's what it is?

Yeah, I like bits and pieces of the first two synth scores by Brad Fiedel, and they generally work okay in the films themselves... but (for me anyways) Marco Beltrami was a huge improvement.

T3 would be fantastic. I really love that score. The film: eh.

Actually if we are talking Beltrami sequel scores controlled by Varese which they could expand, Terminator 3 interests me more than Blade II.

Would they be re-releasing Brainstorm with the original score recordings?
I can dream ...

OneBuckFilms reacted to Richard Penna in James Bond is better than everything
TWINE is my favourite, but partly for nostalgic reasons. It's also more balanced between the string/piano material and action which makes it an easier listen. I know TND is probably the most popular around here but for my tastes it's too loud and overbearing for the most part - I've never gotten into it.
The problem for me with QoS is that I think the film is absolutely goddam awful - I sat through it once with my brother, then twice more I tried again and neither of us had a clue what was going on, what the story was, and were both thoroughly bored. Arnold absolutely did the best job anyone could have done (and I'm sure he found the film more intesting than we did) but it remains a concept album for me - 20 minutes or so of decent action music.
I also unpopularly side with JNHFan2000 in that I like Newman's scores in general. The action music is a bit mixed given that (a) action is not his forte imo, and (b) some of the material at the end of Spectre is just generic fluff (considering Mendes knows how to use music well, I really question what he was thinking here) but the overall sound he gave to the scores is refreshing - his more ambient/rhythmic approach working particularly well with the early action sequences in Skyfall and the Scotland scenes later on.

Original film score: ALWAYS film year, regardless of expansion or not
Re-recording: always year of re-recording

I set the Composer as the Album Artist, then Composer(s) and Conductor(s) for each track, as well as the usual Year and Genre (soundtracks). For song-scores, or compilations, I use Various.
So my file structure is: Album Artist \ Score \ track - track name.mp3
For pop songs I separately tag Artist (band), Composer / writer etc.

Possibly the first time that not only have I never heard of either film in a flyer, I've not sure I've heard of either composer.
They're the sort of thing I'd normally expect to see from someone like Quartet, not LLL. I'm assuming that they've got lots of bigger titles waiting in various stages of development/approval hell.
