  1. I'm just imagining all of the DNR that will take place. The blu-ray was pretty grainy.
  2. After hearing he used Clone Wars music, I have lost all interest in this.
  3. I liked it better than POA, which I consider the weakest JW score for a Harry Potter film. It's just bigger and more magical.
  4. Just finished Tintin on blu-ray. It looks fantastic, couldn't find any aliasing in the picture.
  5. http://www.amazon.com/War-Horse-Four-Disc-Combo/dp/B0072GPQ72/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1331424648&sr=8-2 The back clearly lists 7.1 audio. Where'd you get the idea it wasn't?
  6. Are you talking about the shakuhachi? I'm talking about when a pan flute intentionally overblows it and produces a high pitched squeal that sort of slides down in pitch.
  7. Horner's god-awful native flute squeal thing. Is there a musical term for that?
  8. Somebody described the soundtrack as "a circus band playing at a jazz club". When I think about it, Tintin's theme DOES sound sort of circus-y.
  9. Saxophones always bore me like in Catch Me If You Can. When trumpets "squeak" out high notes like in a lot of Giacchino music and in some parts of Avatar.
  10. I was expecting it to be one of the best transfers blu ray has been. I'll need to judge for myself though.
  11. They gave it a 4.5 for 2D too. It was the aliasing that got it.
  12. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Adventures-of-Tintin-3D-Blu-ray/37365/#Overview A review of the Tintin blu ray. They gave the video a 4.5/5
  13. Kick the Can is the worst for me, by far. It's also Spielberg's worst for me.
  14. Lincoln sounds like it's going to be one of Spielberg's best. War Horse's biggest problem was with it's script and if Lincoln's script is as good as everyone is saying then it should be really great.
  15. I found Tree of Life more engaging than Moneyball. What a bore that was. Mostly do to the fact that I don't like Baseball.
  16. The Tree Of Life blu ray has the best PQ I've ever seen. Great movie too.
  17. They should have John Williams score a Pixar movie. There's yet to be a Pixar film with a great score. Patrick Doyle is promising though.
  18. Aren't they gonna release Lawrence of Arabia this year? It's been a huge cock-tease of a blu-ray release.
  19. The Phantom Menace is his best score since Schindler's List and has yet to be topped by any of his work from this or the last decade. Attack of the Clones doesn't come close to TPM's status. Some of the action stuff would fit well in Minority Report. But at least the love theme is great. Revenge of the Sith is more about the style than themes. However, the style is great.
  20. These are videos my friends and I made.
  21. Far and Away beats War Horse because as Ricard stated, it's one of his masterpieces. It's endlessly listenable and thematically complex. Not to mention coherent. War Horse's main theme isn't nearly as prominent as it should be. Patriot beats War Horse. I have a "special connection" to this score. It's really what got me to being a John Williams fan. War Horse beats Jane Eyre. I'm not really a fan of Jane Eyre.
  22. Agreed. I saw it for the first time only a week ago, and I've already forgotten the score. The only particularly memorable uses of music were "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "Crazy Love", and even then... I forgot after five minutes.
  23. I don't mean minimalistic gravity though. Like big moments of despair like "The Fire and the Coming of War" from Geisha and some of the War of the Worlds stuff.
