  1. Sorry if anyone has already pointed this out but... Approaching the Throne... 1:35 - 2:06 is very similar to... 0.00 - 0.52
  2. I'm feeling the same. I'm hoping the actual score has a lot more than this, considering the film is over 2 hours long and this is only 50 minutes, i'm hoping this is just a quick grab and doesn't really represent the score. That being said, Imperial March statement in The Old Death Star floored me.
  3. I'm seeing it Midnight on the 19th, this will likely be the first time I will be going in cold. I never really take the movie in when I see it first time, I'm usually distracted by the score, listening for themes. #themejunky
  4. I remember this day so well! I burnt it to a CD straight away, threw it in the Hi-Fi, boosted the volume to 11, sat there and I laughed, cheered and cried.
  5. The Imperial March and Duel of the Fates have the same harmony/very similar. The chromatic mediant as its known, Em-Cm/Gm-Ebm (Duel of the Fates) & Gm-Ebm (The Imperial March). I think it's why the force theme has been used so much in the marketing of the disney Star Wars era, it's so easily placed due it's diatonic like melody, works over any typical chord structure, but it's rarely (if at all) woven and crafted the way John Williams does. Like in the scene where Luke says to Obi-Wan, "I want to go with you to Alderaan", he plays the force theme over the horns in a G Minor context which is the same as Binary Sunset version, however in this Luke/Obi-Wan scene he plays that G Minor (hinted) melody in an Eb Major setting. This trailer music works for it's purpose I guess, but doesn't even come close to paying homage to the Williams scores.
  6. The Empire Strikes Back - 'This is no Cave' Mock Up [In Progress] https://drive.google.com/open?id=1BDX3MW7SHxmMacL0Nv6j74gOqJC4N5PP Just wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks in advance.
  7. Okay, I think the first part (after the pitched down main titles) sounds like samples, the more it goes through towards the end it sounds less like samples. The programming in the last few seconds is fantastic if that part isn't real. Those last few bars are the bit that throw me from thinking it's a real recording. But if I have to put money on it i'm saying that it's samples.
  8. Where is the music from in this second half? I know it's a pastiche of the Imperial March (Can hear that A minor - F Minor Chromatic Mediant at work).
  9. @tintacle those are incredible covers, great work. Fantastic.
  10. Yeah but the versions that are out there are not very good.
  11. Yes! I'll now with that in mind say, Duel of the Fates without choir.
  12. Just got the CD, got it on the hifi now. Balling my eyes out and I'm only on track 2 - Close Encounters Stunning.

  14. Are they good, because i have a recording of the planets and they are okay. I'm just gutted because it's been my dream to hear the LSO do Empire live. When they did A New Hope last year i couldn't believe it.
