  1. The one where it plays the force theme and then goes into the End Credits... But seriously, I remember how awesome it was hearing the End Credits of TFA in IMAX with that gorgeous full-blown rendition of Rey’s Theme. It gave me chills and it completely sucks that they removed it on the Blu Ray. I’d pick AOTC as a close second too (finale). I must have listened to that track a thousand times.
  2. This popped up earlier this month on YouTube, not sure if it was mentioned here all those years ago or slipped under the radar. Enjoy!
  3. JW really f’d up by not using this as his idée fixe for all of his post-‘85 Americana film scores. What a glorious tapestry he would have wove! Screw Star Wars, that would have been his Magnum Opus!
  4. Amazing, Bespin! That is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I know they’re probably holding out for better elements for a complete score, but they simply should have released an album remaster in the meantime. It’s like hearing the score for the first time.
  5. I always loved reading that note from John Badham on the back of the LP. JW just writing the score and sending cues off to the orchestrator and copyists before even playing him a note for weeks. Talk about confidence!
  6. Whatever it is, it’ll be awesome. And then they’ll butcher it on the Blu Ray.
  7. Oh, how could I forget another Herrmann gem.
  8. I’m sorry, I had to go with JB but I agree it really is a gorgeous theme and score! If anybody hasn’t listened to King Kong Lives I highly recommend it.
  9. Hmm. I don’t know if I consider the moments in Battle of the Heroes and Dracula’s End Titles to be false endings but if they are I love ‘em. Adventures of Han is a great piece but that false ending is a bit much. But yeah I absolutely love that big brass and string climax in the Dracula End Titles if one considers that a false ending.
  10. I can just imagine what it’s like to live in the house of Williams and overhear him composing these endings... plink plonk...plonk.....PLONK! ........... *soft chuckles* ............ PLONK!
  11. Wow, I’m thrilled that I’m finally gonna get Airport ‘77! Finally. It’s one of those obscure scores that got me hooked on film music. And of course I’m sure Elmer Bernstein’s score for Thoroughly Modern Millie is on the list since it’s never had an official release.
  12. That’s how I feel about Jaws 2. The album is so musically satisfying, the complete score feels very “cue-y”.
  13. It was called the Ship of Dreams!
  14. For the love of god Johnny an underhand soft-toss! At least until Episode IX is done!
  15. Yes! Not counting school, I’ve had just over a decade of composing professionally (aka ‘for money’) and I’m juuuust now finally accepting my inner voice without constantly looking over my shoulder at those I admired (Barry, Goldsmith, Horner, Williams, etc). It was there all along, just buried under the crap of constantly comparing myself to others. And it is unbelievably freeing.
  16. This is probably the best lesson that Williams can teach the “new guard” coming up. The sound that defined greats like Williams, Goldsmith, etc. worked because it was a confluence of what they studied, listened to, and also what came naturally through them.
  17. The entire album is glorious, but seriously I just keep repeating the first 2 tracks over and over and over again. I'll eventually continue on!
