  1. Stefan, of the three recordings you know of, what do you recommend? I actually have never heard the concert arrangement.
  2. Favorite opener: The Eyeland. It really is just so iconic. Whenever I hear it, I instantly see Jack laying there on the ground and I remember how awesome this show was when I first started to watch it. Well...it is still awesome, but things were different back then. Favorite closer: Oceanic 815. Still something about season one that has a magical hold on me, I guess
  3. It always depresses me to hear about lost, damaged and/or destroyed master tapes. Sigh...
  4. Thanks a ton! Ordered! Ah, thank you. Yes, it's all coming back to me now.
  5. The emotional climax consists of a single chord's voicing? Sounds like Nick Hooper to me. Or maybe it's a quote of the THX logo theme chord. What a climax!
  6. Yes! Cool to know I am not alone in being moved by this music. I remember playing it for some family members, thinking they'd have the same reaction I did. I was met with statements like "where was the cool part?" Yep. And "Reunion of Friends" has an overdone ending to match the overdone ending of the film. It's great music, but in that context, it just annoys me, because it practically screams, "Yeah, this movie was just like the first one, but a million times better! Yeah!" It would have worked just fine if it'd been written for the end of the last film...then it'd match the grand nature of the end of the series. But it's just one movie...and it's not even a movie that ends with a huge triumph: Hagrid comes back and has an awkward conversation while the ENTIRE GREAT HALL is dead silent just for them, and then everyone applauds, just for them. But I shouldn't start on a COS rant right now. Might pop something. =/ Never thought of it that way, but now that I think about it, yeah that's exactly it!
  7. I have a short list: TPM: 4 AOTC: 3 ROTS: 3 Titanic: 2 The Dark Knight: 2 The list is short mostly due to lack of money. There have been quite a few films I'd not have minded seeing a few more times in the cinemas.
  8. Hey Datameister, was going to pm you but it's full. Quick question that is only slightly related to this topic. I have this memory of you mentioning a cool book on film scoring. I remember that it has the complete cue list for HP: COS in it, among other cool stuff. What was the title of the book? I'd much like to read it. And back on topic: 'Leaving Hogwarts' is among my top favorite cues in the world. The ending is just beautiful, magical and I think I may have gotten chills when I heard it along with the end of the film in the cinemas. I agree it would be amazing to hear it in the end.
  9. I apologize if this is already common knowledge but... is the "Harry's Wondrous World" from the COS album (with the exciting ending) a re-recording of the unreleased "Harry's Wondrous World" from the SS Children's suite, or is it in fact the same recording. Is this even known? I know that the unreleased children's suite version has the louder ending... Sure hope that made sense.
  10. Fight with the Troll. Has cool horn parts and just overall cool action music. My 2nd choice would be the Entry into the Great Hall. Love it!
  11. I was originally going to say that I think it would need to be redressed in a darker, scarier way to fit in with how dark the films have become but then Datameister reminded me of that statement...very true. I can also hear it working effectively when played angrily by trombones in low register. That's just me though. I know this is off topic, but I really hope that the original "family/ memories" theme is used by Desplat. I loved that and was sad to see it go.
  12. Hey, this is exactly what I've been doing recently. I remember a time when I would check to see the track names each time a track changed on my iPod/ computer/ cd player. These days I just play the score through pretty much (with a few exceptions). I will put my vote in, but not just yet, I think I will listen through them all again to refresh my memory. It's been a while since I had some Harry Potter music in my life.
  13. "Fuck this book." Too true. Burtt secretly hates John Williams, I bet. I can see him sitting down to enjoy specially edited versions of the Star Wars saga with the 'annoying' score removed. Just pure sound effects bliss.
  14. Ah, how could I have forgotten Jacob's Theme in my top 5 post! It should be in there somewhere...
  15. Classic. Well, although I hadn't ever posted anything, I followed the original LOST thread since season 5ish and had many good times reading the stuff posted here. I do love the show, so many amazing moments. Not sure how I feel about the end yet. I haven't watched the Finale since it aired, though I need to go back and take it all in again.
  16. I think this is a really cool idea to make these midi's! Great work on 'The Child Returns.' I would love to hear the others if they get uploaded again. Cool stuff!
  17. They seriously explained the Hurley bird? How the heck did they do that?
  18. I would be very interested in hearing his thoughts! I am insanely excited for the Alien set and so sad that I don't think I'll be able to afford it for awhile. I've been asking family members to contribute to my "Alien Anthology fund." No luck so far...
  19. That show just makes me wish I had something old and worth buckets of money.
  20. I really do wonder what a Disney-ish animated movie John Williams score would be like. I just can't...quite...imagine it.
  21. I havn't listened to the S6 CDs yet, but am way excited to. My top five would be: 1. Ben's Theme (especially the sad/ harmonized versions) 2. Locke's Theme 3. Desmond and Penny Theme (or is it just Desmond?) 4. Claire's 5. Island mystery motif (I think that's what some have called it...plays when Juliet gets out of the sub and first sees the island...also played when people explore new areas I think) Anyone have a theme they kind of dislike? Mine would be Hurley's. I know it's a fun, quirky little thing but it doesn't seem to fit in with the other's to me. Hope I don't offend too many Hurley's Theme lovers out there
  22. Thanks for the order, Datameister. I've been wondering this!
  23. Exactly my thoughts! My picks would be: 1. Superman II - III 2. Narnia films 3. Die Another Day (just kidding) Also, Hello everyone! I am a way long time reader, but quite the newbie for posting.
