  1. Remedy that immediately. I like it better than Jurassic Park, similar to the way that I like Jaws 2 better than Jaws. I agree, not buying The Lost World is a mistake...
  2. Buy it, this cue makes it worth it: I consider those few seconds with the Force theme underscored by Duel of the Fates one of the best segments Williams ever wrote. That's like buying a CD by some obscure composer for $128...
  3. I'm quite a big fan of LotR myself. I am only spending my money on the Expanded Editions though (also taking my budget into account). I fully agree with you that you are getting two different films, (and I see your point), but I have the impression that the shorter versions are just 'highlights from' The Return of the King (the Expanded version), and I had this especially with the second and third one. The one and practically only thing that annoyed me in The Two Towers, in the theatre, were a few very strange cuts. Well, I found this comment a very strange comment for and from myself; but in the expanded version all 'few of them' were gone. I admit it, I am tempted every year to buy the regular DVDs, but I think I'll stick with the EE...
  4. After careful consideration I have decided that I myself am going for Minority Report.
  5. Well, there have been many debates about Williams's recent style and scores, so what is the Maestro's most recent really great score according to you? Which score is in line with The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. and Schindler's List, among others?
  6. Why not? I agree the sound is quite bad, and I have mixed feelings about Anderton's Great Escape's appropriateness for this film (although I like this action cue more than most of his other action cues the last years), but I do agree with the liner notes (which áre appropriate for once), that say that it's a black & white score. Everybody Runs and the finale are Williams at his best, in my opinion.
  7. I agree, I don't know about the Golden Age sound, but Minority Report is one of his best scores in my opinion.
  8. Overall, I am beginning to like his 'Hook' sound less and less. I didn't like Hook at first, but with a more complete score now it's getting better and better. But it's really Williams's cues in major that bother me most. No Ticket, that Gilderoy Lockheart thing, Yoda and the Younglings, well you know what I mean. In TPM he began using it in battle scenes too (as I have mentioned in a post before). Cues like Panaka and the Queen's Protectors (I think) resemble the officially released part of the Ultimate War far too much - it's lacking any proper Star Wars sound. I like his newer scores for his Spielberg films though, it's as if he is doing a special effort every time. (The only cue that bothered me in Minority Report is precisely this Eye-dentiscan.) He should take his own golden age-sound more into account. Anyway, I agree with Neil of course, bring on an expanded or preferably complete ToD any time over any other score. Lotman
  9. "OH! A new black sweater in the shop-window!"
  10. Thanks for the covers, good job indeed! Lotman
  11. Honestly, I'd rather pay only one cd instead of two and have the physical CD package and better sound... But I can get into Neil's reasoning.
  12. The first time I watched it I was unburdened after five minutes, and I didn't see all the wonderful nuances, nor any great acting. It doesn't amount to much indeed. Edit: There was no second time.
  13. I'd rather have a well produced complete AOTC CD in about 10 years ánd another Ultimate Edition (debacle) tomorrow.
  14. I'm sorry, I didn't want to be rude or something. By the way, I really hadn't heard anything of it, and yes, deliberately. I always try to know as little as possible of any film in fact, that I'm planning to see some day. Yeah, I know, even Ep III. I think TPM had potential to be one of his greates scores: Duel of the Fates is one of his best themes in my opinion. What ruined it are these action sequences - it's much to uplifting music, not dark enough (esp in comparison with DotF): it's scored in the style of Hook - and I don't think that fits very well. Especially the battle with those droids at the end suffers. All the best!
  15. Thank you for the spoiler warning...
  16. If you ever have time, couldn't you make a complete cue list? Only a suggestion of course!
  17. I completely agree. I'm really into Arnold lately - he has grown tremendously on me, and in my opinion, he is one of the few composers who really keeps a high standard. He isn't afraid of a little experimenting neither. (300th post)
  18. I will most probably purchase it as well. Do you think there's a chance it'll be sold out before 3rd of May, Stefancos? (I'm a slow decider.)
  19. I found myself Schifrin's The Fox, a second-hand Proof of Life (Elfman) and a sealed Stargate! I'm actually glad you overbid me there Morlock! I also got The Hours sheet music book for piano solo. This was in Antwerp previous to the concert, so that was really my day...
  20. I think I misread: http://www.filmmusic.com/soundtracks/database/?id=3595 I think the reviewer says that the alternate end song was a wonderful sneak preview. My mistake! Cheers!
  21. There were people behind us who thought he was crying as well, during the ten-minute-or-more applause...
  22. I read on Soundtracknet that the extra DVD on the limited edition soundtrack contains a sneak preview on the box sets that are bound to come out. Since I don't have this limited edition, could anyone who has tell me what it says about these box sets exactly? I'm most curious (since I'm going to buy them). Greetings!
  23. The extended Ring Goes South. At least, I think that was the Caradhras sequence... Lotman, whose ass was sleeping in the break as well.
