Kendal_Ozzel reacted to BloodBoal in The Chronological Film Score Thread
Ant-Man - Christophe Beck (2015)

33. About Damn Time
34. Tales To Astonish!
*Source music cues
Unused music:
01. Ant 247 [00:00 - 00:59]
02. Tiny Telepathy
03. Your Mom Died A Hero
04. Cross Gets Cross [00:00 - 00:42]
Notes:
- The source music cues (Borombon, Escape, I'm Ready and Pink Gorilla) are all only used partially.
- Escape appears twice in the film, so I listed both appearances just for the heck of it.
- About the unused part of Ant 247: I'm 100% certain were that one is meant to go. Right after the end of Escape From Jail, in the film, you have a scene involving the ant N°247 which is unscored for 59 seconds, then features 00:59-End of Ant 247, so obviously, 00:00-00:59 from that track was meant to underscore everything in the scene before that.
- About Tiny Telepathy: while the music in that track doesn't appear anywhere in the film, there is music similar to the one heard at the beginning of that track in one scene where Scott learns to communicate telepathically with ants, so it fits with the title. There are actually two scenes involving the telepathy, one right after the other. I believe this is an alternate for the music heard in those scenes. The thing is, I've tried different ways to sync the music with both scenes, and it never quite works (though I strongly believe it was meant to underscore the first scene), so I think the music heard in the track was for a different edit of one of those scenes (or both). So this track should go between I'll Call Him Antony and San Francisco, 1987.
- About Your Mom Died Hero: I'm 99% certain that one is an alternate of San Francisco, 1987, for two reasons. Firstly, the title of the track suggest the music in it was meant to underscore the scene underscored by San Francisco, 1987 in the film, and secondly, the music heard in the Your Mom Died has basically the same structure (about 34 seconds of calm music as Pym tells Hope about her mother, then about 40 seconds of more dramatic music for the flashback sequence and finally, sorrowful music as we go back to present time) and thus fits the scene just as well. I'm thinking Beck originally went for a more action-oriented approach for the scene (Your Mom Died A Hero), but then eventually they decided to focus more on the tragedy of the scene (San Francisco, 1987).
A funny tidbit: Your Mom Died A Hero starts with Hank Pym's theme (which covers most of the track) and ends with the family theme, while for some reason, it's the other way around with San Francisco, 1987 (the track starts with the family theme (covering most of it) and ends with Hank Pym's theme)
- About the unused part of Cross Gets Cross: that's the only one I cannot place anywhere. I'm pretty sure it's a separate cue from the one heard from 00:42-end in that track, and was meant to underscore a different scene. Either a) it was meant to underscore a scene that is left unscored in the final film (but all the scenes with Cross have music in them, so that's not possible) or b) it's an alternate for a cue in the film (there's one scene, which is about 40 seconds long, in which I think the cue would work well, which would place it between Become The Hero and I'll Call Him Antony) or even c) it was written for a deleted scene.
- Some of the music microedited out of First Mission can be found in the end credits of the film.
So in the end, after all this, we have:
01. Borombon
02. Escape
03. I'm Ready
04. Old Man Have Safe [00:00 - 02:06]
05. Honey, I Shrunk Myself [00:00 - 01:54]
06. Pink Gorilla
07. Honey, I Shrunk Myself [01:54 - End]
08. Old Man Have Safe [02:06 - End]
09. The Water Main [00:33 - End]
10. Escape From Jail
11. Ant 247
12. Paraponera Clavata
13. Pym's Lab
14. Become The Hero
15. Cross Gets Cross [00:00 - 0:42]*
16. I'll Call Him Antony
17. Tiny Telepathy
18. San Francisco, 1987
19. Your Mom Died A Hero (Alternate)
20. First Mission
21. Signal Decoy
22. Cross Gets Cross [00:42 - End]
23. The Water Main [00:00 - 00:33]

35. Theme From Ant-Man
36. About Damn Time
37. Tales To Astonish!
* Wild guess

The Mixed-Up Droid and the Dark Forces audios definitely do.

EDIT: D'oh. I see you already have that link.
At any rate, I've listened to a dozen or so of them. As mentioned, any of them from RandomHouse Audio will feature music from the OSTs.

The middle one is just the other two albums combined, right?
Those are among the handful of JW/Pops albums that I've yet to acquire.

E.T. is the most impressive for its age, I say.

I guess it would have been preferable if Mann had delivered a film that could be enjoyed as it was.

Yay, I got an autographed one! I was afraid I might miss out, since I forgot to order until about 20 minutes after they went on sale.

Kendal_Ozzel got a reaction from Smeltington in The Chronological Film Score Thread
In case anybody else wants to know, here's the chronological listing for Pocahontas:
1-2. The Virginia Company - Ship at Sea
3-4. The Virginia Company (Reprise) - Steady as the Beating Drum (Main Title)
15. Pocahontas
5. Steady as the Beating Drum (Reprise)
6. Just Around the Riverbend
7. Grandmother Willow
8. Listen with Your Heart I
18. River's Edge
16. Council Meeting
17. Percy's Bath
9. Mine, Mine, Mine
10. Listen with Your Heart II
20. Getting Acquainted
11. Colors of the Wind
22. Picking Corn
23. The Warriors Arrive
21. Ratcliffe's Plan
24. John Smith Sneaks Out
19. Skirmish
14. I'll Never See Him Again
** If I Never Knew You
12. Savages (Part 1)
13. Savages (Part 2)
25. Execution
26. Farewell
28. If I Never Knew You (John Secada and Shanice)
27. Colors of the Wind (Vanessa Williams)
** I ripped this from the new DVD (and save for the final trademark Menken "thump" note, it rips pretty cleanly). In case you didn't know, this song was cut from the original release of the film. Alan Menken himself said he thought the test audiences were getting bored at that point and he suggested the song be removed. But now on the new DVD it's put back in, resulting in a better love story and a better film. Since the theme is used throughout the score, it just doesn't seem complete without the song. (There is also a very short reprise in "Farewell" that is not on the CD, but I haven't yet gone to the trouble to try to edit it back in.)

Kendal_Ozzel got a reaction from Once in Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection
This might just be about the best non-JW soundtrack release news I could possibly hope for (that hasn't already come to pass)! Too bad Aladdin won't be hitting another milestone for 3 years, but at least there are a couple of Menkens already announced.
I will probably end up getting all of these. I hope sales are good enough to keep the program going.
