Hans Zimmer started on INTERSTELLAR

This score's central theme seems to me a fantastic achievement in the "minimalism" aesthetic. It's breathtaking how much meaning there is in such a simple construct.

I dunno why but this made me laugh.

Because it's meaningless, nonsensical twaddle? A bunch of difficult words that signify nothing?

In response to the question "Is he a fine pianist?"

He's not.

Yes, I know I said that.

I'm simply stating that you will hear that he is indeed a fine pianist.

No, you are stating that I implied he couldn't play at all, which I never did.

Listening to the first track.

I like it, but... Hans, if I wanted sound effects, I'd watch the film.

thankfully only 3 tracks really have sfx get in the way

and only at the start

There's not much missing either (though the cues that are are some of my favorites). The digital bonus tracks will probably cover it all, and then the box set will have unused suites etc.

even predicting what the 23track version will cover, there are some minor musical moments missing (like the 23years sequence, or Dr. Manns first appearance)

and other tracks like S.T.A.Y. are shortened from their movie versions

But overall it will be the most complete release a zimmer OST has ever had in its first year

Mann's introduction and the remainder of S.T.A.Y are the same music, probably What Happens Now? on the bonus tracks.

Can't think of anything that won't be included, looking at the bonus tracks and thinking about what's missing from the basic release.

yeah it does seem like some tracks were reused

Wormhole's intro plays during the first docking sequence too

'Place Among the Stars' sounds like the music used for Michael Caine's big scene (you know the one), etc

still dont think every piece will be released, but we will see

edit: frankly I am amazed an album release is chronological for once

It's not *quite* chronological but overall it is.

Ambient music design: Mario Reinsch. That's it, no additional composers.

But there is stuff actually missing.

:music: I'm Going Home -- some of my favourite material is in this one :)

Where do you see that credit? IMDb still isn't complete yet and I haven't been able to remember all of the music credits while actually in the theater. So far the only other credited hands that were on the music aside from the orchestrators were Steve Mazzaro's and Andrew Kawczynski's, who are credited with "additional arrangements" - probably no more than stitching cues together. I noticed a few instances of that in the film.
