The Nightmare Before Christmas

Indeed. The only film I *try to* regularly watch around Halloween. Though I fail to do so more often than not.

There's always the second opportunity, to watch it at Christmas, though.

The Exorcist, The Shining, Planet of the Apes (no idea why I consider it a Halloween movie), The Masque of the Red Death, Nosferatu.

Also have to include The Cabin in the Woods, which will probably become a classic.

Evita

hmmmm.. I really can't understand the joke here.
there is nothing to get it's stupid.

Vincent Price has some terrifically fun films but I want to see the Haunted Palace, it's one film that really disturbed me as a child.

I want to see the Hauted Palace too, because I'm searching for a horror film that I had seen in my childhood and I think this may be it.

I specifically remember a close-up of the face of a woman which was very white, and very red lips, and she was something like mad in the end. (I think she could be Paget)

and the whole atmosphere of the film was blue, in a castle/palace.

By the way, the list of films I haven't watched yet and I had compiled is this (don't know what you all think):

Monster Squad (I didn't know about this, and it seems like a Goonies with monsters, plus i love 80s films)
Amityville Horror
American werewolf in london
Young Frankenstein
The wicker man
Re-animator
Carrie
Candyman

(of course I'm talking too about the originals where applicable)

One that hasn't been mentioned is Jacob's Ladder. I'm not a fan, but it is pretty disturbing.

Yep, a very creepy movie. I seem to remember that Joey disliked it intensely?

Fire in Sky (1993) ? I guess some would call it Sci-Fi, but it is very disturbing.

American werewolf in london

Young Frankenstein

These two are comedy horrors.

I don't mind that.

When i started the thread I meant any halloween movie (eg. like Hocus pocus, Arsenic and old Lace etc.)

They don't have to be horror/disturbing.

I also love Christine and Fright Night, don't know if any of you have seen them.

The cover of Fright night haunted me in my childhood, when i was seeing it in my local video store, and I always wanted to watch it.

I thought it had to do with ghosts.

Anyway, i watched it for the first time last year.

I caught the remake on TV a few weeks ago and was utterly bewildered how the movie was trying to make me feel. It could have been a decent parody if it wasn't taking itself so seriously.

it's not disturbing at all it's just badly told, badly written, and badly acted. I hear there is a remake in the works.

Yep, it just fits perfectly in the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas season.

Surprised no one has mentioned John Carpenter's The Thing yet.

What about Cujo?

has anyone seen it? Is it good?

I learned about this film from Friends!

Cujo is pretty intense at times. Dee Wallace gives a great performance.

E.T.

Good idea, it's true that the action of the movie occurs during Halloween.

And E.T. meets Yoda during that night if I remember well

Yes, i already had that in mind.

Maybe i'll watch it on the night of Halloween (since it's also my favourite film of all time) instead of a thriller.

the thing i'm afraid of is that I watched it last December, and I don't want to watch it too often and then lose my enthusiasm about it..

I also have in mind to watch Ridley Scott's LEGEND.

i think it's appropriate too with the fairies and goblins, and the beast etc...

@filmmusic

Legend, is that the movie with young Tom Cruise?

Yes, I love its atmosphere and the great Jerry Goldsmith score!

Not the US theatrical version with the Tangerine Dream score.

Legend doesn't really belong in a horror film discussion.

This is not a horror film discussion, this is a Halloween film discussion. ;)

Is that the 115 mins version, or the 90 mins version?

What, the DVD? It contais 2 cuts. The US theatrical and the Director's cut.

No love for "Legend", eh, Joey?

On the Sp. Ed. R1 DVD, there are 2 cuts: the USA 90-min cut with TD, and the 115 Sp. Ed. cut, with JG.
