mstrox 6,661
Keeps getting better and better. I love Lynch's direction on this. The long overhead shot of Shelly's daughter in the car. The beatdown in the casino with the showgirls watching. The dangerous man in the Roadhouse, who by the way (if you looked at the credits, is named Richard Spoiler HORNE ). Evil Cooper seeing BOB's face, and later tormenting the prison staff. The two assistants in the insurance office bumbling at the boss's door after dropping Dougie off. Whatever the H is going on in Rio de Janeiro (Jeffries?). Major Briggs. DR. JACOBY AND HIS DANG SHOVELS. NADINE. A lot of classic Lynch in here, and every step we seem to be A) getting more action in Twin Peaks and B) getting just a little closer to that older Twin Peaks feel. I like that we're getting trickles of "updates" of where the characters are in the past 25 years, rather than one big info dump in the first episode. As we go along and are able to piece the puzzle together more, the more I appreciate Lynch/Frost's care in meting out these details. I do EVENTUALLY hope that some of these things to start congealing into an actual story/stories in the town of Twin Peaks. But we have 13 hours left. Even the doddling Dougie didn't bug me too much, Still anxiously awaiting Dougie's awakening, though. You think Dougie's wedding ring will do it? Cooper has a history of enlightenment when a ring is returned to him.
Jay 37,479
There's no reason to spoiler-block any discussion about what's already aired, only stuff shown in the previews for next week's episode.
mstrox 6,661
It's true - if they'd wanted to keep this character's lineage a secret, I'm sure they would have - but it's something that the episode itself doesn't tell you, so I blocked it just in case somebody wanted to find out via the story. Especially the moments of faint recognition Cooper has to his former self. The coffee, lingering on the word "agent" and the statue. Come on Coop! Figure it out! They are certainly in no hurry to get to the point and have no intention of explaining anything they feel the figure will be able to figure out by themselves somewhere along the line. And how these things are all connected. There seems to be something that is trying to invade the Black Lodge. There's also some unseen force in the "real" world that seems to be aware of it and is studying it. Evil Coop doesnt wanna go back and has somehow made Dougie his replacement. We know people are after Dougie, but don't know if it has anything to do with Evil Coop, who's now in jail and seems more or less recovered from his accident. What's with the key Jade threw away? What's going on in Rio? What's the deal with Colonel Briggs?

Thor 7,627
Another great episode -- I'm transfixed to the end, much like BETTER CALL SAUL (although for different reasons). The long overhead shot of Shelly's daughter in the car. I didn't enjoy nor appreciate this overly-indulgent (yes I know it's Lynch) shot at all. Because it didn't feel earned. Who was this person? At this point that character is nobody of consequence to me; even if she is Shelly's daughter. I don't know enough about her life or motivations to want to see a protracted scene of her meaningless face eating up precious airtime in an episode of Twin Peaks. Unlike the thousands of baying TP crowds hanging on (for dear life) to every step this return takes, I won't necessarily buy into such unearned frilly extravagance just because it's David Lynch. Quintus 5,399
No, it isn't. The show needs to have a real burst of sustained momentum injected into it now, at five episodes in, because it feels frequently boring and actually quite wasteful. But this is Lynch! He's doing it his way! He doesn't do "momentum" as you understand it! Bollocks to that - I saw the gangbusters first two hours.

Quintus 5,399
What? I'm not in a hurry to see everything hunky dory with Cooper again. But some pace wouldn't go amiss. I love a good show which takes its time, written by a writer who takes his time. But it's important that i don't feel bored at any point. Yeah, that's key for me. Quintus 5,399
There are good parts in the episode, but overall I was bored shitless by it. Last episode, they ended on a corker of a scene with bad Coop in custody. So what do they follow it up with? How did they build on that delicious thriller momentum? Just more tedious scenes of Alzheimer's Coop staring at statues and standing in lifts. But I'm pleased you love all that. It just doesn't do anything for me

KK 3,307
I kind of agree with Lee, in that some of the decisions made seem like poor construction choices of narrative and pacing. But will have to wait until we have to whole picture to see how well all of this really pays off. The new Twin Peaks seems better suited for binging than weekly episodes. Quintus 5,399
I did a four hour drive back from the Lake District earlier, I was tired and had really been looking forward to settling down in front of Twin Peaks after what felt like ages having to wait since the previous episode. So it was pretty disappointing for me. A plodding instalment with a couple of highlights. I'm sure it'll pick up again soon.
