I always mix up some of these with each other, but never actually caught any of them.  Which are worth it?

That's easy. THE ROAD was my favourite film of 2010 (2009 internationally, 2010 in Norway).

Score-wise, I'd say REVOLUTIONARY ROAD. It's all very classic Newman, but one of the more confident ones of that decade. A reference point, even. Next after that is Nico Muhly's THE READER; I still remember seeing him play selections from that live at the World Soundtrack Awards back in 2010, and quite liking it.

Revolutionary Road is a movie made with the express purpose of winning oscars. Like literally that movie exists only for that reason. And it even failed at that.

The Reader is worth watching. I would call it a drama of ideas. People don't like it much but it is a tough film with some tough ideas in it. Lots of nudity and sex too if that's your thing. But a worthwhile film.

Just because it's a domestic drama? While the plot might not be complex, the performances, cinematography, and score are all excellent. Not to mention the production and costume design, also top notch.

 No wonder Alex loves it.

In fact, Revolutionary Road the only one in this list that I don't find boring, although I haven't seen No Reservations

@Koray, it's not a complex plot a la Nolan, but the movie deals with complicated problems, which is something I prefer. Unlike with 'complicated', the expiration date of 'complex' is very limited.

Revolutionary Road was a depressing borefest.

I think most kids and children would agree.
