I just saw Heidi (1968) yesterday. My wife had seen it as a kid, and we showed it to our kids. I didn't see the opening, so I when I went in to watch, I was pondering... "I think John Williams wrote this, if I recall..." Then, the underscore came in for a trip down to the village, and it was obviously Williams (to my ear, at least). "Yep."

Way before I saw the Williams-scored HEIDI, I saw the old German/Swiss television show that ran in Norway (in syndication) all through the 80s and early 90s. Anyone remember that? It first aired in 1978.

The film's premiere on NBC was preceded by an American Football League game between the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets; although NBC was contractually obligated to begin the broadcast of the film at 7:00 p.m. ET on the East Coast, network management decided to allow the game's broadcast to continue to its completion, delaying the broadcast of Heidi until after the game concluded.[2] However, they were unable to communicate this decision to the network control facility in New York, as numerous viewers had called the network to inquire over whether NBC would be broadcasting Heidi, or the end of the game. The enormous number of calls blew out all 26 of the NBC phone line switchboard fuses.[2] Consequently, Heidi began at 7:00 p.m. as scheduled, ending the broadcast of the game on the East Coast. Shortly afterward, Oakland scored two touchdowns within the final minute of the game, winning 43-32 in a major upset that a large portion of the country was unable to witness.[3]

Lol, I didn't knew that! Very funny story. I'd be pissed too if they stopped broadcasting the game to air any movie.

I was living on the East Coast and remember that like it was yesterday.

We all rushed to listen to the radio broadcast and nearly fainted when.we heard what happened during the minute we missed!

JW must have been pissed that the start of Heidi was only shown on the East Coast.

He called a press conference the next day to announce he would never work for the network again!

I think my tally is 68 films that I actually remember watching.

It’s possible I saw some others but don’t remember because the film didn’t make a lasting impression.
