Richard Penna 3,695 Posted November 29, 2023 Share Posted November 29, 2023 Inserts are a tricky case because I don't think it works when it means including an entire track just to present 20 seconds of different music. Obviously, the problem is that if the integration of the insert makes the cue the 'film version', you'd have to include the entire thing again to present it sans-insert, and I don't think that's listener friendly. Too much duplication. I think Sleepy Hollow got this a bit wrong by presenting one nine minute sequence twice in sequence for just a handful of very brief differences. But my personal preference, which I know won't be shared by some, is to present segments even if they are like a cue within The Quidditch Match, which have some difference in them. I reckon those who want a more curated expansion, by their nature won't want to hear the same music multiple times in a row, and who want 'everything' are happy to do a quick bit of editing if they want some alternate material presented in a certain way.
