  1. No ethical consumption under capitalism. I’ll continue to enjoy the content I like while also acknowledging that some of the art I love is produced by terrible people.
  2. Again, it’s mostly likely a studio decision. The studio chose Iglesias to do Exodus for tax cuts. Directors, even of Scott’s caliber, don’t always get to make the choice.
  3. No one entertains the idea that Phipps is the studio’s choice?
  4. Because I created this thread to be an appreciation thread for Zimmer. If you want to criticize him, go make your own thread. No one is afraid of anything, it’s just annoying as fuck to constantly have to read the shit like you’re posting here. This has been supported by the moderators for years.
  5. I’m not familiar with Alias, but Scrubs was always the show for me that was radically changed by expired music licenses. It’s why I still hang onto the DVDs. Bill Lawrence said in one of the early episodes of the Fake Doctors, Real Friends podcast, that he was trying to make a deal with Disney to fix that for streaming.
  6. You’ll like Season 2 then, which has a scene that feels straight out of the Black Lodge. I think Season 2 is great but tries to juggle too many characters so it becomes convoluted. If they dropped the Taylor Kitsch character it would have flowed much better. Strong beginning, weak middle, strong ending.
  7. Dunkirk I was so enthralled with my experience with Interstellar, that I went in with high expectations and found it all quite dull and boring. The Northman Similar situation due to my experience with The Lighthouse. I still enjoyed this one quite a bit, but it just wasn’t very memorable. To The Wonder Malick could do no wrong before this one. Though I still kinda feel that way, this one clearly isn’t of the same caliber as the rest of his filmography. It even put me off of seeing Knight Of Cups and Song To Song. Hugo / The Wolf Of Wall Street Hugo was such a giant misstep for Scorsese, in my opinion. 3D was taking off because of Avatar and it seemed like every director wanted to jump on the bandwagon. I thought his follow-up would be a return to form, but I find it extremely overrated. The Book Of Eli The trailer looked really cool. I loved the cinematography and the premise. Gary Oldman as a villain. Tom Waits. Turned out to be a Jesus propaganda film.
  8. Those first few films are some of my favorite comedies.
  9. He was the show runner for Bates Motel.
  10. I’m fairly certain and hopeful the final title isn’t going to be Gladiator 2.
  11. We got 50 years of Bond films like that. The Craig-era was a fresh change. They should do something new and different with the character moving forward.
  12. I think you mean Jack Bender. But agreed, seeing Written by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, Directed by Jack Bender at the start of an episode immediately let you know you were in for a great ride.
  13. It’s a true classic, and my favorite Burton film to this day. I can’t imagine a sequel can be anything worthwhile at this point.
  14. The mythology of Lost is my favorite part of the show. I love that we don’t get all the answers. We just get enough to know that what our characters experienced was a cyclical event that has always happened as far back in time and will happen as far into the future that we’ll ever know.
  15. If Zoolander 2 and Anchorman 2 are anything to go by, this will be awful. Just a rehash of the first film’s jokes. I’m of the mindset to just leave it be.
  16. Oh I agree. There are only a handful of core plot elements that were carried through the entire series. They didn’t even know what was in hatch when Season 1 ended. Ben was supposed to be a guest star for a few episodes. The magic of network TV!
  17. The Thomas Crowne Affair (1999) Always really liked this one. Great score from Bill Conti that’s melded perfectly with Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman.” Brosnan and Russo have wonderful chemistry; and the film just exudes sultriness. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore! Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) Another longtime favorite. I wish Cusack wrote more movies like this and High Fidelity.
  18. I remember this as well, and it was cited as the reason why Shannon and other Season 1 characters were in the church.
  19. I remember someone on the show saying that JJ wrote the ending right after the pilot.
