Quintus 6,499 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I prefer the Morse Code theme for SOS. ShowUStheHOOK 1
KK 3,313 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Well, it depends. On pure listenability, Bane's Theme is obviously the better choice (although both aren't much). But in regards to which theme was more effective, it's easily the Joker's theme.
Bellosh 4,531 Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 They work fine in their respected films, regardless how listenable and simple they are. They had themes!? Holy Crap! These films wouldn't have worked as well if they had traditional themes, or however you want to put it, IMO.
Rachael Foley 10,164 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 These films wouldn't have worked as well if they had traditional themes, or however you want to put it, IMO.IMHO:
Ren 77 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 the joker's theme was the most effective at creating the mood
Brónach 1,330 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Well, it depends. On pure listenability, Bane's Theme is obviously the better choice (although both aren't much). But in regards to which theme was more effective, it's easily the Joker's theme. This for me too.
King Mark 3,975 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 For the sake of the dignity of this board, I suggest clumping all "Dark Knight" music threads into one big threadPS I don't give a shit about either themes
indy4 160 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Is Gotham's Reckoning the music for the airplane scene in the beginning?indy4 - trying to decide which tracks to buy on iTunes
Bellosh 4,531 Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Is Gotham's Reckoning the music for the airplane scene in the beginning?indy4 - trying to decide which tracks to buy on iTunesI think it is, I'm not exactly sure though, only saw it once. But definitely buy 'Why Do We Fall'
indy4 160 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks! Isn't Rise just a rehash of "A Dark Knight" from the TDK soundtrack?
KK 3,313 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Is Gotham's Reckoning the music for the airplane scene in the beginning?Gotham's Reckoning is the opening cue, along with A Storm is Coming.RiseDon't waste your money on this cue. This is a pure rehash. Basically various remnants of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were stitched together to create this cue. I find it amusing that most people rank this as their favourite cue of the album when its material isn't even original to the score. So basically they prefer the music of the past 2 films to the new music of this film.
Jonesy 55 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I don't know why, but I prefer Joker's theme, I think it's more aggressive than Bane's theme.Ah okay thanks. Any other tracks worth getting?Mind If I Cut In?
Taikomochi 1,461 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Well, it depends. On pure listenability, Bane's Theme is obviously the better choice (although both aren't much). But in regards to which theme was more effective, it's easily the Joker's theme. That's exactly what I was going to post. I think Zimmer's intention was more at being cinematically effective, so I guess I vote Joker.
p0llux 435 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 "Mind If I Cut In" is the most interesting track in the trilogy. It essentially is Catwoman's theme. That theme, by itself, is more interesting than all the music in the trilogy combined. You should put that up in the poll.
crocodile 9,724 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Sounds like something from Hannibal, though.Karol
KK 3,313 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Sounds like something from Hannibal, though.KarolNot nearly as interesting. Catwoman's material is generic piano tinkering.
Admiral Holdo 16 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Bane's theme is actually kinda cool. Overly simple maybe, but I dig it.Helps that it's in 5/4. 5/4 is always fun.
Red 75 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Both fit their respective characters and work in the movie. As a standalone listen I'd say they're about equal as well.
ManofDestiny 104 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Well, it depends. On pure listenability, Bane's Theme is obviously the better choice (although both aren't much). But in regards to which theme was more effective, it's easily the Joker's theme. Very true. One is musically good. The other one works well in the film.
TheUlyssesian 2,745 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Neither.Its a stretch to call them themes.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 The Jokers theme is just a noise....
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 These films wouldn't have worked as well if they had traditional themes, or however you want to put it, IMO.That's NBC.The Jokers theme is just a noise....Very true. I hear it everyday. You just have to walk in a crowded street, and you'll hear it.
BloodBoal 8,711 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 What? I'm being serious here! I agree with you!
Ren 77 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 It's an effect, but it's still thematic as it reoccurs in variants throughout the movie
Brónach 1,330 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I'm not sure if I remember well, but there were two or three reoccuring different effects assiciated with the Joker.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 The Joker's theme is not noise or an effect. It's performed by Martin Tillman on an electric cello.
Score_Fan 37 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I liked bane's theme more - both his main theme (gothams reckoning), and his tortured/sad theme (imagine the fire/latter half of fire rises), however...joker's was more effective. Both were perfect for the films. Also, the whole score is worth purchasing, imo.
Jill Sandwich 11,166 Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 At least I can imagine John Carpenter's Halloween theme over Bane's theme. Maybe Bane and Michael Myers are related.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Myers is Haddonfields reckoning.
