Scarpia reacted to Joni Wiljami in The Force Awakens SPOILERS ALLOWED Discussion Thread
Yes.
But there is one thing that TFA beats all the previous SW movies; Acting. Its pretty good, almost brilliant.

It wouldnt surprise me. It goes with the whole The Force is strong in our family vibe that this film is rocking.
I wonder if all Jakkuu scavengers have posh English accents

Scarpia reacted to Thor in The Force Awakens SPOILERS ALLOWED Discussion Thread
Personally, I don't mind too much that the story ingredients are very similar to A NEW HOPE. It's like with most 'family sagas' or other mythologies -- these things tend to go in circles to some extent. A lot of the mythology of the original trilogy is also mirrored in the prequels. It's HOW you do it that becomes the attraction.

Scarpia reacted to Jay in The Force Awakens Disney Records OST
OK guys, now that the score is out, please use the following thread to discuss the MUSIC:
The Force Awakens SOUNDTRACK ALBUM Discussion
That is so people who don't want to hear or read about the music until they have their physical copy and/or until after they've seen the film can still safely open this thread.
This thread can continue on with shipping notices, finding the physical copy in stores, packages arriving, differences between the standard and deluxe packaging, etc

After all that, the damn Cellar Song isn't even on the OST. Williams must have cracked the shits.

Scarpia got a reaction from Jacck in The Force Awakens SCORE Discussion (Film Spoilers Allowed)
I'm glad Williams didn't put any choir to Han and Leia's Theme. It's rather kitsch, and I really disliked this on the trailer.

Scarpia got a reaction from Cerebral Cortex in The Force Awakens - Score Reactions from Reviews, etc
Tomorrow is the big night for me. I will finally listen how this combined orchestra is playing Williams' soundtrack bits. Can't wait.
And I hope all of you seeing the movie tomorrow to enjoy it, which is the main reason why this saga exists after all.

Tintin is an awesome score, its surprising to me still that so many here don't like it.

He is an artist.

Scarpia got a reaction from Jacck in Gustavo Dudamel conducted the opening and closing credits for The Force Awakens
Dudamel resonates very well with the kind of music John Williams writes. His involvment here actually elevates the score in my opinion.
Music is for everyone, to share, to perform and complement with new ideas. Dudamel respects Williams and has done a superb job conducting his music, so I have high hopes for his recording here.

Somewhere, William Ross is curled up in a corner, crying.

Scarpia got a reaction from crumbs in Gustavo Dudamel conducted the opening and closing credits for The Force Awakens
If Williams is not willing or able to conduct in his future scores, I think Dudamel is the best one to go.

Scarpia reacted to MissPadmé in StarWars.com Livestream of Force Awakens Red Carpet premiere includes Star Wars music (UPDATE: No new Williams material was used)
That major variation of the Imperial March was a cheaply made mock-up version and sounded like spoof/ridiculous... no way that's something written by Williams - you guys are funny..
