  1. Surprised more people are not talking about Shaiman's MARY POPPINS RETURNS; what I've heard so far is fantastic!
  2. Saw this the other day. The brass really sound great, especially in that space—though I'd probably shave off about 20% of the echo if I could.
  3. Did La-La Land ever release the cover art for these two scores within this set, like they have just done with the HARRY POTTER scores? Would be nice to have high-quality professional scans of the two soundtracks' art, other than just the main box cover.
  4. Question. Why is the SORCERER'S STONE art with just Hogwarts castle (so, no Hagrid & Harry) being considered here as "bonus" art or like an alternate? The main pic from the press release that shows all the contents of the box set, shows that the Hogwarts-only art is the standard cover art for that score's CD. It seems like the Hagrid & Harry one is an additional, alternate cover art.
  5. Can't wait for this! Random preference question: when importing a collection like this (or THE JOHN WILLIAMS JURASSIC PARK COLLECTION) into iTunes/an equivalent digital music library, do you guys treat it as one album with the overall cover art for all tracks, or do you split it up by scores so that each score is its own individual album with its own art? Was just curious how other users here handle a release such as this one, especially since each soundtrack does have its own art (and in high quality too!), if one did want to treat it as a series of separate releases. I'm a bit torn as to what I'd do.
  6. Man, Phil Cobb on trumpet is such a worthy successor to Maurice Murphy. He sounded great in SOLO too.
  7. I might be inclined to agree. Easily in my top 5 JW tracks.
  8. Probably Korngold? Mahler? I also hear a fair amount of Prokofiev.
  9. Hands down one of my favorite moments in the score! Really stood out to me on my first viewing; I was disappointed to realize later that night that it wasn't included on the album, but thankfully "Lando's Closet" still helped satisfy my craving for the theme. Still, though, I love how the strings swell at the beginning of this appearance of it.
  10. Looks like some good stuff on that album, in addition to the Williams: THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, MULAN, TWIN PEAKS, THE MATRIX... I think I'll have to pick this one up.
  11. Moronic and disturbing? Where did I ever say I'm entitled to anything? Heck, none of us are even entitled to this Trumpet Concerto recording, period—we're incredibly lucky to be getting it! I don't see anything wrong with hoping we get a studio recording of the new Han & Leia arrangement before Williams is gone...
  12. So excited for this album. Now if only he had taken the chance to also studio-record his new Han & Leia theme arrangement!!

Your playlist is missing KINGS ROW. EDIT: I guess it's there, but not available to play.
  14. That's what I thought. LOL you ignored the point. Only attacking the analogy makes it look like you can't construct an actual response. Let me repeat again: "You are effectively arguing that no one should ever wonder if anyone else shares their opinions on a matter—because their own opinion is all that matters/is needed." I'm not sure how many more ways I can phrase it. You're getting upset because someone wondered if other people think the same as they do. That's insane. EDIT: BTW, you never did explain what you meant when you mentioned people online being "entitled"?
  15. Mind clarifying this? Are you saying you think it was Drew who tagged him? Just curious. Obviously if he did, I fully condemn that. Balfe shouldn't have even been bothered with this whole thing; not worth his time.
  16. "Does the "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" score sound like the final product was performed mostly or entirely using samples?" I'm glad Drew knew his own opinion on the matter, before he decided to ask others'. Again, why do you keep using this line of arguing? It makes 0 sense. Of course someone is going to have their own opinion on a Twitter poll before they post the poll. Like I said earlier, if I think McDonald's chicken nuggets don't taste like real chicken, then by your logic I shouldn't ask anyone else if they think the same—because I already know what I think. You are effectively arguing that no one should ever wonder if anyone else shares their opinions on a matter—because their own opinion is all that matters/is needed.
  17. Dude, I don't care if Balfe and Soundtrack Meme's families have been feuding for generations. The question that was asked, is perfectly valid and, from my own experience with the score, warranted. The thing sounds (on first listen at least) like it's 99% samples. Is there a real orchestra buried somewhere in there? Sure; it's a Hollywood movie, of course they've hired an orchestra. But the Tweeted question asked whether other people think it sounds like mostly samples. Which, IMO, it does. And apparently some other people think the same. Again, I couldn't give any less of a crap if Balfe's great-grandpa murdered Soundtrack Meme's, or vice versa—I don't care why the question was asked; if he didn't ask it, someone else should have. It was valid and is something that evidently multiple people can relate to, regarding this score. So, yeah. You can keep going on about "feelings" and what you think it "means", but there is nothing wrong with the question and nobody should feel bad for asking it. In fact, the only person who should feel bad is the idiot who tagged Balfe (which again, was not Drew) to get this whole thing stirred up.
  18. Motivation is irrelevant when it's a valid and reasonable question. You've already admitted to caring more about feelings than facts.
  19. No, I said I couldn't tell there was a real orchestra in that one track that I've heard so far. Of course I assume there is a real orchestra, but the way it sounds, the samples are front-and-center/the main thing. You can still assume there is a real orchestra and not be able to tell, just by listening. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. It sounds like just samples. Drew, likewise, thinks that M:I-6 sounds like just samples. Posting a pic of an orchestra doesn't change people's auditory perception of things. And frankly, it's irrelevant.
