  1. Yeah, the hate for Quantumania seems more like the "popular thing to do" rather than people who have seen it truly judging and criticizing the film. Its not perfect, but it as good science fiction film and definitely features a terrific performance by Johnathan Majors as the MCU's new big bad. The ending definitely reeked of last minute changes, but otherwise I thought it was a nice old school film and something enjoyable and would definitely watch again, unlike say Black Widow or Eternals which I have little interest in returning to in the future. I think the so-called "super hero fatigue" has definitely set in, and after Endgame people are just exhausted and for many, Marvel has run its course. I think if after Endgame they took a few years away from features and only focused on the smaller scale tv side of things, people would be far more receptive to recent films. If the first film back was something like Black Panther 2 after a three year or more absence, people would be more on board.
  2. That seems likely, though I wouldn't be surprised if Chapter 8 from the game is either incredibly shortened or altogether removed to make things flow better.
  3. I've watched a few Youtube Making Ofs that go in depth on the disaster of the film. It truly is astounding how these directors talked themselves into the job and then went full ego crazy all while making a movie with little connection to the games it was based other than a few names. Its not surprising that Nintendo has been so protective of its IPs ever since. I just hope this new movie is a hit so we can finally get a Legend of Zelda movie, something I've been waiting for thirty years to see.
  4. As for the film, it's a decent enough thriller with a twist that M. Night would be proud of even, though its hardly memorable. Bob Hoskins and Tom Berenger have a good dynamic in the scenes they share, but its one of those films you put on at midnight when you're looking for something to watch but don't really mind too much if you fall asleep before the end. Will probably search it out and see if the music is of interest to me before buying. Silvestri of this period is hit and miss for me outside BTTF so either I'll be pleasantly surprised, or saving some money.
  5. If you think about it, the Winter part of the game is a lot of action and going to place to place with very little of the "story". I think based on the episodes left, it should work out alright and not feel rushed. I think there is some stuff that will be sacrificed, but at this point I'm willing to trust them based on how well this transition from game to show has gone. another episode or two would probably be ideal but sometimes less is more.
  6. The animations that came out post Power of the Daleks were largely funded by BBC America to air. As such, they wanted fully animated stories rather than ones that jumped between animation and live action, thus leading to animating existing episodes. If they are doing more animations, I doubt this practice would continue unless whoever is footing the bill requested as much. As said earlier, it's just an unnecessary cost that could be used to either animate more episodes or dedicate more time to ones that need it.
  7. Palm Springs was a great film so excited to see how this turns out. Not much of a fan of the overrated Aniston, though I'd like to see Roberts in something that gives her a chance to have some fun. Her and Clooney did good in their recent film and she's much better suited for that type of material than the more serious stuff she was trying to focus on for awhile.
  8. In the U.S. the Director's Cut was listed separately, not as an extra or anything like that. I just saw its on HBOMAX in the U.S. currently, so it may have been moved to a different service and JustWatch just isn't recognizing that fact.
  9. Originally when conceived the Boba Fett show was going to simply be Mando Season 3 but focusing on Boba, following the same chapter numbers and everything from The Mandalorian. It was probably filmed as such and only changed to its own thing after the fact and they just didn't bother to reconstruct the narrative at that point. I would imagine most that watched Mando would at the very least check out Book of Boba Fett and would at least be made aware that there are essentially 2 Mandalorian focused episodes in the middle.
  10. Megalopolis has been something Coppola has been trying to make for decades and will probably be his final film. Its gone through so many hurdles to get made, and now going through his patented very troubled production as well. Either it will become a classic and have an all-time great deliver one last masterpiece, or will serve as another forgotten film by a director who hasn't had a memorable film in decades. I hope its good, but the fact that even Coppola himself cannot tell what the movie is about is not a good sign.
  11. A fan did an animated version a few years ago that was up on Youtube. I plan on watching that at some point during the day.
  12. Gunn wrote the 2 live action Scooby Doo movies so he knows how to write for kids. Also, his GOTG movies have a lot of heart beyond the jokes, and I think that will translate well to Superman. Obviously they want to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible, but I think the number one goal of the new DC films is to rebuild Superman to where he should be. Both the WB CEO and Gunn have stressed how important they find the character to be for the larger film landscape so I am hopeful that we will be getting a good representation of the man in blue.
  13. Not to mention, Ford was injured and they had to delay production and eventually push forward with a double. Those scenes need to be finished and that's what reshoots are built into the schedule to accomplish. After editing is done, sometimes you have to "fill in the blanks."
  14. After watching their two films after Endgame, especially The Gray Man, I think that bringing in the Russos would be a bad idea. They seem to only work best in the Marvel ecosystem where much of the film is laid out in preproduction by the Marvel crew. Their output since leaving Marvel has been very underwhelming which is the last thing DC needs right now. They need to start incorporating characters of varying backgrounds other than the standard bland superhero. A Justice League Dark featuring Zatanna and Constantine is a good start, and I'm sure Gunn, who has experience elevating lesser known characters, will jump at the opportunity to have DC be different than Marvel and not come off as a pale and moody imitation.
  15. The story might seem familiar, but what set the game apart is that it took the established ideals of zombie and post apocalyptic things we've already seen and are familiar and add new emotional layers. It's really about the two main characters and the father/daughter dynamic between them, so if that's not of interest to you than the show probably won't be your thing. The game was very much characters/story first and action second, and considering the game devs are heavily involved in the show I suspect the show will follow a similar path.
  16. Cavil only came back to the role when it was agreed that his vision for the character would be recognized, which he has described as "joyful". I think that Cavil wants a more traditional representation of the character going forward, and is not happy with the direction that Snyder took the character after Man of Steel. In his most recent appearance as the character he's accompanied by the Williams' theme and it was likely on his request, as he is a big geek and fan of that kind of stuff. While I wouldn't be opposed to going a different direction, I have a strong feeling that they're going to go full force with the classic theme in the next film, especially to differentiate from how the Cavil character has been represented in the past.
  17. Cavil is represented by Johnson's ex wife who is also a producer on the film. Walter Hamada, the former head of DC Films, apparently was actively against bringing Cavil back. When it became clear Hamada was being let go, Johnson went to WB directly in September and got them to agree to film the credits scene to bring back Cavil into the role. It has nothing to do with the film's performance, and everything to do with Cavil's team making sure he gets his job back.
  18. This is a horrible movie, plain and simple. The opening pretitle is alright and has a nice callback but it then leads to an hour and a half of Laurie being completely out of character and a main story that would be fine if it were just a random Halloween movie, but not as the proposed "final encounter" between Laurie and Michael Myers. As a result, and with the need to have the confrontation at the end, you have a very rushed plot that isn't well done and ultimately not what audiences are looking for, with the filmmakers essentially saying as much in the film. The last act is decent, but the film has already gone off the wheels at this point. None of the tension of the original or even the 2018 film exist here. Instead, you have a poorly told love story (multiple love stories actually) told against the backdrop of Haddonfield. The movie has four writers, and it would seem that two of them wrote the last act and the others were probably tasked with coming up with a way to get to that point. IMO they failed miserably and Halloween Ends will sit firmly at the bottom of the franchise along with Halloween 6, Resurrection, and the previous Kills.
  19. For everyone complaining that all superhero movies are the same and people are getting bored, let's see the reaction to this. Honestly, if Gaga is indeed playing Harley Quinn and their love story is told through song as they go around causing chaos around them it could be spectacular.
  20. Beck is a good composer and obviously has experience in the genre, so this probably is a good thing. I enjoyed the first film, but can't say any of the music ever really stood out bar the Bing Crosby song at the beginning, so hopefully Beck delivers a memorable score on par with his Ant-Man work.
  21. The movie is terribly bland and has almost no tension at all. The end sequence where more than 7 people are all clumsily hiding behind a jeep from a dino just shows what was wrong with the movie. There were no stakes, the main characters never truly felt like they were in danger, and the two different storylines that came together felt incredibly forced. If they had just picked the ecology story and went with it I would have enjoyed the movie much, much more. The stuff with Pratt and Howard felt out of a Bond or Marvel movie, not a Jurassic movie. During Top Gun, I never looked at my watch once as I was completely enthralled and on the edge of my seat. During this movie, I looked at my watch less than a half hour in, and continued to do so throughout the movie. Very disappointing, and if that means I'm just looking for something to hate so be it.
  22. Between Stranger Things and The Boys back I have enough to fill my time until the show comes back. That cliffhanger was a shocker and hopefully it'll attract enough interest from those that have stopped watching and help the show go out with the recognition it deserves.
  23. Movie looks like a lot of fun, the poster looks like a bad direct to video movie from 20 years ago.
