  1. Has any of them ever played in an orchestra before? They don't seem to listen to the other musicians and they just focus on their part, as if they were doing a solo constantly.
  2. Wow. What does make One Little Indian SO GOOD to sell so quickly, only in a matter of days, compared to Monsignor, The Agony and the Ecstasy, and for that matter, 100 Rifles, Goldsmith's best western by far. They were limited to 3000 units each, and they will need a few more years to sell out...
  3. That's not the first performance... but an edit of all the videos they've got for audition purposes.
  4. Hard to believe nobody (except Jeshopk) gives a damn about the new harp concerto he's writing for Ann Hobson Pilot and the viola concerto to be premiered next month. Especially after reading such statements as Josh500's
  5. After a thorough read of your post, I've realized you're inferring that I'm whether wrong or exaggerated. Or maybe you're being sarcastic. But I don't like the attitude, anyway.
  6. I don't hear neither Hook nor ET here. Instead, it sums up in a very practical (big audience-driven) way some of Williams' most recent musical interests. A really great theme.
  7. I guess this guy hasn't listened to any score prior to the bronze age. And in my case, LOTR would be on my Top 10 for sure.
  8. Be sure to catch the full "concert" version, it's a very lovely piece. Is that available on a release? Or....elsewhere? Sure.
  9. Incorrect. He's as active as ever (even more in his conducting duties). A concert piece takes a lot of time to be written properly. Half of the process is only meditation and doing a rough sketch of the architecture of the work. And then writing the notes, which can take many months. He's certainly working as hard or even harder than his contemporary colleagues (who premiere one work per year, more or less).
  10. Ummm where do you live?? I dont have any CD of her, but really with the TV, radio, etc... it's rather hard being from Spain and have not heard anything of her... I don't watch TV and don't go out to any pubs where her music is prone to be played. Radio... I only tune in Radio Clásica.
  11. With such a high IQ she should write better music. I hadn't heard her music before, but after such praise on this thread I was expecting something... I feel disappointed.
  12. If you think that's cheap you have no idea about music whatsoever. Just take a listen to the phrase and the response to each line, it's really brilliant. For that matter any chamber piece is cheap music.
  13. If Jane Eyre can't be labelled as a 5 star score, what else can be?
  14. Musically simple (notoriously in the orchestration and harmony), only interesting thing is the way Ifukube plays with the syncopation, something he (had) perfected for his concert works such as Ballata Sinfonica or Ritmica Ostinata which are far more elaborated than his film scores (probably due to time constraints in the film production schedule). Anyway, I find it quite enjoyable and the best score of Ifukube. I give it 3 stars.

  16. Fortunately there are better foreign/international/overseas composers than those 2.
  17. One more Oscar to Ilarayaja. Yes, the whole score is like those 30 seconds.
  18. Rebel without a Cause, East of Eden, Lord of the Rings - Leonard Rosenman Black Rain, Dodes'Ka Den, Ran - Toru Takemitsu Altered States, The Red Violin - John Corigliano Spartacus, The Agony and the Ecstasy - Alex North
  19. So, a better question would be: When did you first meet Steven Spielberg?
  20. And considering there won't be a rough cut of Tintin until at least the end of 2010...
  21. Of course he hasn't. He's more busy now finishing the Harp Concerto and preparing all the concerts from may to november.
  22. That's what happens when you have the MSN open and try to post on JWFan.
