Granted, very few scores are mixed in discrete 5.1 (more a sort of 3.1, or even, a very wide 2.0), but when it works, and the instruments are placed for maximum effect, it can be thrilling.

Remixed from the original 24-track multi-tapes?! I satisfy myself with the fact that SUPERMAN now sounds the best that it's sounded, in 40 years, and will, probably ever sound. For someone who bought the OST in 1978, and has loved it ever since, I consider that to be $35 very well spent.

LP 78 is my format of choice these days. At 5 minutes per side that would make for a mean box set.

No, that's about it, thank you very much. I'll now add it to my 2-LP vinyl, my cassette, my CD, my Japanese CD, my Rhino 2-CD, and the Blue Box.
Some scores really are worth heptouple-dipping for . SUPERMAN is one of them.

If I haven't said this, before...great avatar, @Obi. Now...leave me alone! 

What is significant about this release:
 
1.) It includes the Maestro’s entire score, expanded and remastered from the recently discovered original 2 inch 24-track recording master tapes (offering the best sound ever from the original source).
 
2.) It includes alternate cues, including an alternate segment of The Fortress of Solitude that has never been heard before.
 
3.) It includes the US premiere release on CD of the 1978 album, remastered from the original recording tapes.
