I love plenty but not everything like Thor does.

I mean, sure. Things like some of that happened in the middle east and so on and actually could probably happen everywhere. But then, why not tell an actual story about women's fate under the Taliban or whatever.

And I agree with AC1. Where in the world are infertile women ruling over fertile women, making them even lower class just by that criterion? I would as well rather expect that they would be praised like bee queens. And then at one point in the show they said, that it is mostly the man who is infertile and not the women. And latest then, this whole construct stopped making sense to me.

And in addition I have seen Elizabeth Moss at least one time too many in the role of the surpressed and punished woman that prevails. Mad Men, Top of the Lake, Handmaid's Tale. Did she ever play another type of role?

Then why do I know so much about the show? My wife is a fan. Otherwise, I would have stopped watching latest after the third episode.
Serious question: Is there actually any film or TV show that you do like?

It's hard for me believe it too, but for other reasons. If what we see in The Handmaid's Tale ever becomes reality, then the few women that can give life will not be slaves, they will be seen as gods, as the last wonders of the world. They hold the future of humanity in their hands.  The show wants us to believe it's the other way around but I'm not buying it.

But the real theme of the show is the American political system and can't be discussed here.

@AC1 I agree with you. The drama in Inception is just irritating and it was the right decision to get rid of the emotional overload in Tenet.

For me, it's the other way around. I really hated Inception (on every occasion) but kind of enjoyed Tenet for what it was. The problem is that one movie annoyed the hell out of me, while the other one ... well, didn't.  I feel that, in Inception, the story is still very much told from the characters' point of view, but, I truly disliked the characters and the whole tone that they gave to the movie. OTOH, in Tenet, we are almost dealing with colourless, indistinct non-characters, akin to the ones in Dunkirk, which shifted the POV more towards the narrator (Nolan), which somehow gave it more neutral tone with very little cause for irritation.

Indeed, that title does not bode well for the movie. You know you're in trouble when you can't say "man!" after the title:

"Say, old chump, what's your favorite movie?"

    "The Fabelmans, man! The Fabelmans!"

I mean, at the time, everybody drooled over how great House Of Cards is but now that I'm finally watching it, I must say, it's rather crudely written. It's certainly not on the same level as The Wire or Mad Men. Also, I always have a problem when literally every character is rotten to the core ... 'rotten' as a selling point, as a sensation ... Meh ...

Very straightforward dino music. A bit too straightforward and obvious maybe?

I forgot I had this one. The main theme sounds alarmingly harsh (the sound of the trumpets ... ouch!) but luckily things get better after that.

Which really makes me question why Spielberg is wasting his time on this. I mean, good luck to the guy if he has a burning desire to do it... but it seems a massive waste of potential for a genius filmmaker, who spent decades dreaming of directing a musical, to just remake an existing work. Especially when his partner in crime for 40+ years is the greatest living film composer and isn't even involved.

Completely head-scratching to me... but so are half the projects he's done since Munich. It's like every second film he makes only exists to fund the films he actually wants to make.

I'm increasingly relieved he moved on from Indiana Jones and is tackling something more personal next (doubly so if Williams finally reunites with him).

Exactly! I love my Samsung 51" plasma screen, Blu-rays look great on it, but when I play the same discs on my 65" OLED screen, I suddenly see all the flaws and then I'm not so happy anymore. That's why I love the picture quality of all these contemporary 4K productions, even when it's on Netflix, they look way more perfect.
