  1. I enjoyed the new Sly documentary on Netflix. I think it's worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Sly mentions the score I think at least once, but the doc is more about his life than Rocky, although of course Rocky and its sequels get discussed. From the Rambo franchise, I think just First Blood is discussed and Stallone's reasons for not wanting Rambo to die as he did in the novel. I hadn't heard his reasoning before, and I didn't know it was his idea and something he insisted on.
  2. This is based on a film score piece right? or vice-versa? I can't quite place it, but I know I've heard this melody before. 1:55 My first thought was Bachelor Flat, but I just skimmed the soundtrack and don't think it's from that.
  3. Are you sure? I thought it was around 55 seconds into “Regaining a son”. Update: Oh yeah you’re right. I was comparing the audio sample with the earlier rendition in the elegy in which the solo cello is quite prominent. But the strings take that motive later around 3:45. And what’s “A Million Bucks” from?
  4. It’s based on the same true story as Alive
  5. Oh Seven Years in Tibet - Regaining a son. - before the football game. That almost drove me crazy trying to place it
  6. 2-4, The River, Eigar Sanction, and Angela's Ashes. Oops, have to work now! Update: Sleepers Football game is near the end. And JFK Garrrison Family Theme The last one has me stumped
  7. me too, at least I think I did. Maybe a drive-in theater? I was quite young. I just remember not getting past the idea I was watching the guy from The Waltons
  8. Which spin-off is he working on? I lost track of all the spon-offs
  9. I was listendning to Deep Impact and Bicentennial Man just recently. I'd love expansions of both. I just love Horner in the lush emoational mode. Ha, the more similar the better! I especially adore Bicentennial Man. And I just started reading a Deep Impactish novel: The Effort by Claire Holroyde, so the Deep Impact score is perfect background music for reading.
  10. you’re allowed to type about them. As long as you don’t use your voice, it’s all cool.
  11. Here's a Google Translation of the part aboout the season 10 soundtrack which is why I visit this thread. So he's thinking of releasing it for free somehow with the new season's music, but it doesn't sound certain yet.
  12. I'm not familar with Preisner's music, but of the Polish composers I am familair with - a total of two that I'm aware of.... Greatest living: Jan A. P. Kaczmarek Alltime: Greatest Wojciech Kilar Favorite Living: Jan A. P. Kaczmarek Alltime Favorite: Jan A. P. Kaczmarek But damn, I just noticed Jan A. P. Kaczmarek's wikipedia has a recent unsourced update: His daughter apparently said he is suffering from multiple system atrophy which is incurable.
  13. I remember reading it was over the lyrics rather than the music per se. With orchestra members snickering at the lyrics. Anyone else recall hearing that?
  14. I've been a pretty devote fan since 1990, and these totally slipped under my radar. I just noticed they're on the Pops album Joy to the World. Ha, perhaps that's why!
  15. I just realized I never knew about the Boston Pops recording of Home Alone. Boston Pops re-recordings [SME] 12 - Somewhere in my Memory 13 - Holiday Flight 14 - Star of Bethlehem Do they vary at all from the original soundtrack?
  16. What are some highlights others more familiar with the score in the film than I are excited about?
  17. He may have already finished it. Mike said he was recently working on a few projects, and Williams said something in the interview about finishing a couple of things. I could be wrong as there was never any finish or premier date mentioned about the piece.
  18. "The" before a name can be used to convey extra significance and importance and uniquness. Think of it as bolded and emphasized: THE John Williams will be joining us today! But yes, usually "The" does not precede a name.
  19. John Williams played piano on The Days Between on Keisuke Wakao Plays Music of John Williams. And that's the only track on the CD arranged by Williams. Oh it was mentioned earlier, but here's the track:
  20. From the wikipedia about the original comic..... Well this sounds odd!
  21. I got around it by searching "pops-salute-john-williams-conjures-movie-magic/" in Google Search, and then the article was visible. I got the same paywall message at first from the link in the original post.
